Check out her latest from today… a reporter asks her “do you have the numbers to show that it’s the concealed carry permit holders that are committing crimes? Because the lawful gun owner will say that you’re attacking the wrong person. It’s really people that are getting these guns illegally that are causing the violence, not the people that are going and getting the permit legally and that’s the basis for the whole Supreme Court argument. Do you have the numbers?” Hochul’s response: “I don’t need to have numbers, I don’t have to have a data point to (then she babbles) have sensible gun safety laws” folks, pretty clear. A gun grab. Intention is to disarm American citizens. we cannot let that happen ever. More law enforcement more illegal gun confiscation Tough on small crime. It’s the only way. This one question. Is the first time I’ve seen a real question from a reporter in quite sometime. And when you put someone on the spot with a very appropriate question and they respond by admitting data does t matter, the truth is easy to see. they are doing it regardless of what we think about it.

I live on the North Fork of Long Island and have been Atlantic Ocean, Great South Bay and L.I. Sound surfcasting my whole life. I have been wanting to learn more about and get into saltwater flyfishing for over a decade now. I've been a lurker on here and other forums reading posts for years, but have never pulled the trigger on a saltwater fly rod & reel setup. I am looking for a 9wt saltwater setup that would be versatile enough for me to use in the saltwater estuaries around my neighborhood, but also heavy enough to use on the rocky Long Island Sound beaches and in the Atlantic Ocean inlets. Can you please recommend a proper setup for this balance that I am trying to get out of a single setup. I'll keep reading up and learning from you all in the mean time. Thank you ahead of time for your help and insight.

Hi. I'm new here. I wanted to ask for some pointers and possibly share some information about fishing *the south shore. My son and I are reasonably experienced fishermen. But we're entirely new to Jamaica Bay and all of the South Shore for fishing - and fairly new to blues and stripers. For the last couple months we've been renting a small boat and fishing for blues and stripers in the back *. We've probably gone out 7 or 8 times, starting in early September. We've caught a lot of nice, if not wildly large blues and stripers, a few into the 7 or 8 pound range, all catch and release. We're working entirely off the surface, using lures, hunting around for surface commotion and baitfish getting corralled near shores and marshes etc. Last weekend we went out and we didn't see a single instance of surface commotion and we didn't even get a bite, let alone catch any fish. Clearly something pretty dramatic had changed from the previous six weeks. But we were in the dark about what. I was especially curious because my understanding at least was that blues and stripers in that area should be heating up over October rather than trailing off. Has anyone else seen that shift in the same area or in that general area. And for those who know the area better are there obvious things about recent weather or the runs or anything else that would explain it? Obviously, sometimes a day is just a bum day and it's a fluke. But it seemed like something more than that. So I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts, has seen the same thing or has any ideas based on knowledge of that water. Thanks in advance! Josh

I live around Philly and I know people pull stripers out of the Delaware and Schuylkill but I haven't gotten into that yet I've just been hitting the beaches in Jersey during the fall and spring runs. I really enjoy actively plugging but a lot of the guys I know that fish the river primarily use bait. Am I just talking to the wrong guys, do people plug from the bank? Same question about the Hudson in NYC. I know stripers go up that river too but I've seen mostly fish on boats not from the bank. Does anyone catch from the bank and if so are they chunking or plugging

Hey guys. I live on staten island close to the water and do just about every kind of fishing here. I fish from the kayak, from the bay, midland beach, conference house, great kills, by the pier, off the jetty's, night fishing, day fishing, plugs, chunks and everything. The spring season I got a few nice bass of the yak. This summer I got some doormat fluke of the yak also. Lately I haven't heard of much action if any going on anywhere locally mainly cause its dead this time of year. Here and there I hear some reports of a bass picked off. The thing that stinks about staten island is that there isn't a great fishing community so there is no reports or websites for reports. I travel a lot down to Riis park for the surf but lately the fishing stinks over there also because of the whales and seals in the water pushing the fish away the past 2 seasons. Once the fall rolls on in I take the worthy 3 hour trip down to Montauk for a few days and go to LBI here and there. Also off the boat in jersey and etc. However there are times when I still catch bass off staten island plugging. Most people look at me like I have 3 heads when I try to explain what a lure is lol. The people here have mostly no clue what they are doing. Occasionally you will run into the real fishermen who know and they usually have an idea of what the fish are hitting and where. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a staten island fishing report of some sort. Once mid September hits, I want to be out as much as possible all the way through December in the staten island, new jersey area fishing. Thanks a lot guys !

What is your preferred method of catching stripers off the surf in NJ and NY during the month of April? April seems to be getting colder every year and was wondering if it has changed the strategy for most surf fishermen in the area.
