Was fishing a SS jetty the other day during incoming. Started At the back and had a few fish but got the itch to go towards the front side even after seeing some big waves come over the rocks . First cast in I saw the biggest wave I’ve ever seen come straight at me . I had no time to react and just turned around and braced for impact. Before I knew it I went head first into the rocks . Split my thump open , banged up knee and arm . The 2 other guys on the jetty didn’t even notice me . My first thought was to not lose my vs250 and hold on for dear life lol. Def feeling sore today but thankful to be alive . Fortunately I was still able to fish even though blood was pouring from my hand for the next hour or so. Prob should have gotten stitches . Glad I had korkers but honestly don’t know if they really made any difference . Definitely have a newfound respect for the ocean . Scared me to death and I said never again but now I’m kinda ready to go back . Stay safe guys .

Bought these boots brand new this year and used them 3x and it didn’t really consist of walking or hiking because I rode a bike to my spot then waded. They are in great shape. Hello Surftalk - Hope I'm in the correct forum. I did my diligence, ran a search, still have a question. Appreciate your help. Korkers ... I had my first experiences on the rocks of Montauk this year. Not to exaggerate, I was not on the boulders, but standing among the rocks in the wash near the Sewer Pipe. Rubber booted bibs waders, inexperience and too much enthusiasm; of course I fell. Was near the shoreline so only ended up with about 1/2 in. of water in the right boot, but it was a no-sh$t Sherlock moment for me. I need korkers. I respect their name is synonymous with the product (i.e. Xerox, Kleenex, etc...) but does that make them the best product? Are there affordable, functional alternatives? Yes, I'm asking. Yes, I'm budget conscious. Yes, I could just buy them but I'm really here to ask, why? Why them? Are there other options? Competitors? For the amount of use I'll get from them at this point (say 10 outings any given year), maybe I can find a reasonable, functional compromise that meets the need and doesn't too deeply pick my pocket. My main use will be at Montauk, maybe some jetties in the Brooklyn/Queens areas. I don't have, and don't plan on doing the full neoprene suit out on the farthest rock thing, but I'd like to be able to wear my waders and climb a modest rock with some confidence and security in mind. Last consideration, I was at the point a couple days ago. While I was there, only boils I witnessed were just off the eastern point, under the lighthouse. The only anglers reaching those fish were standing on the lower band of wide flat rocks under the walking path up along the fence. No way I was standing there in rubber boots but maybe, just maybe, I could pull that off with proper foot wear (and a 1000 other safety pieces). What korker alternatives are there? I'm looking into buying a pair of Korkers before this upcoming Striper season. I fish the canal but I am most interested in wading around Wollaston Beach and other rocky beaches on the South Shore (of Massachusetts). I can also see myself heading to some sandy beaches in the Summer. I will have also bought stockingfoot waders. With all of that said, which type of Korkers have you had good experience with. I'm looking hard at the Dark Horse boots.

Looking to replace the worn out screw in studs out of my wading boots...I need some recommendations. The original studs looked like a typical hex head sheet metal screw with one difference. The hex head was concave. They were mild steel so a little soft. Wasn't too happy with them they didnt give me the best grip when new. I use them for fishing off jetties, rocks etc. Anyone have any recommendations?
