Has anyone given these new legend tournament inshore rods a workout? I owned 2 of the older ones and found them to be great rods but preferred the IMX pro blues. The new legends seem to be directly targeted at the imx pro blues. St. Croix has a few rods in their lineup that interest me and aren't really available in the loomis/shimano lineup. Would love to hear some input. Thanks in advance.

I got this brainstorm and I think it will be reality unless one of you knowledgeable folks steer me straight. I want another 7ft rod, but 2 pc. My current trusty rod is a old TideMaster 7' MHF. So I went looking at the Century site and I see the Weapon Jr 2 pc options, they have a 7' unit. The factory rods have them funny grips; I'm old fashioned and like my cork ring grips, so my thoughts are to have one done up as such. Anyone see any flaws in my thinking? I know the cork is expensive, and not trendy, but I always come back to it for some reason and I don't see that changing if I buy another rod with grip other than cork.

Hello, I'm hoping to start a thread where people who do freshwater or saltwater fishing could share information and possibly meet up and go fishing. I live in Boston and have been kayak fishing for little over a year all freshwater throughout MA and NH, I'm looking to start doing some saltwater fishing and would love to meet/go out with others who are more experienced in inshore/offshore fishing. I was out in Dorchester Bay for the first time 2 weeks ago and caught a few stripers biggest about 22". Dealing with the wind and waves was an experience but overall I enjoyed it. I went out again this week and made a killing over a dozen fish trolling a tube and worm, none were over 22" but it was a great day! If anyone is going out and wouldn't mind me and possibly my cousin tagging along or want to tag along with us when we go out let me know.

I appreciate the add! I’m OCD when it comes to fishing gear and I tend to go down lengthy rabbit holes. I’ve watched most of Scoob’s videos on youtube and I can’t decide on my next 3000 for inshore. I’ll be pairing with a St. Croix Avid or Bull Bay rod 7’ M-F Shimano Stradic FL or Daiwa Back Bay LT

Hey everyone, This will be my first year ever exploring Massachusetts salts to try and get into some striped bass. * Does anyone have any rough ideas of where to start looking to get started with striped bass in the Metro South, Downtown and North areas? Not looking for anyone to blow up someones spot, just trying to get a rough idea of where I can make my first moves as a guy with a crazy busy schedule.

I used to be 75% baitcasting/conventional and 25% spinning from shore. However, it has reversed and I'm using my spinning gear more. I decided to sell those that I don't use much anymore. Check my other threads for additional baitcasters. I will list them separately so it's easier to keep track of. I am selling two as a bundle. I don't think I could sell the Orra2 Inshore by itself, so just throwing it in there for an incentive, LOL. I used and abused the Orra2, since that was one of my first baitcasters that I used for learning. I didn't use the Revo Inshore as much. Abu Garcia Revo Inshore (RVO3 INS) spooled with 30 lb Spiderwire Abu Garcia Orra2 Inshore (ORRA2INS) spooled with 20 lb Kast King (Not sure) I'm asking for $150 shipped for both. I couldn't find the boxes.

Anyone own any of these rods who can give an honest review? I have my eye on either the 7030c or 7040c for heavier bottom fishing applications. Thanks!

Thinning closet, Selling as a set, not splitting. JDM 2015 Daiwa Catalina BJ reels. Japanese market only reels. never released in US. I bought them back in 2018. one is a righty high gear ratio , stock double paddle replaced with factory JDM Daiwa SLP power handle. one is lefty lower gear ratio with double paddle. built like tanks. essentially the same design as a JDM Saltiga BJ100 reel. in great condition with light normal usage marks no corrosion, no bad bearings, everything works, Just use it straight out of the box. filled with 20lb Sufix coastal blue line. non-disengaging levelwind for superb casting, jigging, inshore, slow pitch jigging. has centrifugal brakes inside solid 15lb drags, smooth cranking. one screw, easy sideplate removal MADE IN JAPAN. IMHO much better then a low profile reel of same size. inshores, lexas, F all that made in thailand, vietnam crap. and looks a hell of alot better in machined aluminum. When released, they cost me about $360 each. +$70 for the power handle. I junked the stock handle as it sucked. boxes and all. $425 shipped insured.

I've reserved a spot in the Helen H inshore Nantucket fluke trip back in March. I think the vessel spec'd for this trip is F/V Angler. The site used to have vessel profiles on it but it looks like they've removed all such references. Does any have any insight to this vessel? It helps to know the vessel in order to get some idea of what sort of arrangements I will make for the trip. Thanks. P.S. I called them but I got a voicemail and I'm itching for any info asap.

Has anyone fished these rods? I was looking at the 9' med-light for a light surf setup (1/2-3/4oz jigs/plastics for fluke and small stripers). I'm wondering how much it weighs and what taper is really like but also overall impressions. Listed as fast but I'm concerned It might be a little too soft with that length and listed lure weights. I'm also hoping it's pretty light (around 5-6 oz) so I can bomb it all day. Thanks

For sale is an Abu Orra Inshore low profile reel. I brought it used a few years back but haven't used it much. It has some slight discoloration from the pouch I had it stored in but doesn't impact performance. $50 shipped.

I have a question about braided line on VR and VSX reels. Is there any reason why you would not recommend deviating from the published line recommendations? For example, will 15# braid cast better than 20# on a VR50 with marginally less strength? On the other end of the spectrum, will the small cup of the VSX150 be a problem for 40# or 50# braid when throwing artificials for snook or tarpon. I normally wouldn't care about experimenting, but braid is expensive and there's a ton of smart anglers who can answer my question and save me a few bucks. I just moved to FL so there is a lot of different fishing going on, not just surfcasting (who knew).

For sale: Daiwa Saltist Westcoast Inshore spinning rod 8'3" medium light two piece. 50/50 split. Rated 3/16 - 1 oz. Condition is like new, used 3-4 times. The rod weighs only 4 oz! It's good for freshwater and light saltwater. It does cast up to 1 oz very well but i find it more sensitive with lures up to 1/2 oz or less. It is fast action feels more towards moderate fast. Price is $120 picked up in Brooklyn, NY. Sorry, no shipping.

Hi Everyone, I need some help. I recently ordered the St. Croix VIS80MHF Avid Inshore Spinning Rod - 8 ft and I need to find a spinning reel to pair with it. I plan to get more serious about striper/blue fishing in cape cod (Eastham/Welfleet area) and this rod will mainly be used in small rivers/estuaries as well as flats. I have been doing some research and I have heard some good options are the Shimano Saragosa 5/6K, Shimano Stradic FL5000, Shimano Spheros 6K, Shimano Sustain, and the Pen Slammer 4500. I was really leaning towards the Stradic FL5000, but my concern is the weight of reel is too light for the rod (roughly 10 oz). This Avid inshore model that I purchased is about 7.5 oz. Do you think I need to pair this rod with a heavier reel in the 12-16 oz range? If so, do you guys have any other recommendations? Also, I would love to hear from anyone who owns this rod on what your setup looks like.
