So, I currently have a TICA 8 footer medium-heavy action rod that's an absolute winch with striped bass, but I'd love to be casting further especially during windy days, as well as when that bait is just out of range. But, I still want a rod that makes catching schoolies a bit entertaining. Same goes for the reel, a baitrunner might be nice. Any suggestions? Fish from shore and boat, this would probably be a shore rod/reel combo. Thanks!

Hi all, I broke my fishing rod (10 feet, 15 year old) during transportation. It was worn out anyway. Well, I have the Shimano 6000D baitcaster reel. Usually have 50lbs braided line on it. Mostly interested in surf fishing for stripers (or whatever comes my way). The one I had was 10 ft, I think if I get something longer, it would be better? Thoughts on this? Can you recommend a fishing rod, preferably 2 piece (easy to carry). That will work well with the Shimano 6000d? Thank you so much.

Hey all how's it going? I'm at a bit of a crossroads here and need some help. I'm trying to figure out which rod I should buy. I've heard some decent things about both brands but I figured I'd turn to my Fishing community for some legitimate answers. I'm fairly new to Fishing. I found these two on Ebay for sale and im about to buy just not sure which one is best. Any thoughts? Hi. im in avid fisherman here in NJ. Never owned conventional gear.About 15 years ago My grandfather gave me an old setup from the 70’s I would assume that he had on his old boat. He had an old penn Jigmaster on it. Im attaching pictures of the rod he gave me. He’s getting older so I thought it would be cool if I had the rod reconditioned, and the reel beefed up and brought him fishing with it at the inlet. I just can’t identify the rod because I don’t see any markings. I’ve never seen a teak or hardwood (whatever it is) handle. So it can’t be that common. any help is greatly approciated!

I've been down sizing my rod collection recently. Most of my St croix and Penn rods have been replaced with the Majorcraft brand rods. I found them to be super light, strong and sensitive and able to fish it all day long. I only started to use them less than a month for tog fishing so I don't know the longevity of these rod. I'm sure some other SOL members who has used this brand can give better input. Recently Majorcraft have their american division running and you can get all kind of bass rods and saltwater fishing rods on their website. No more fleabay and crazy shipping cost from online tackle store without warranty. For those that are interested, just google Majorcraft america and it'll lead you to their website.
