  1. Anyone use Audible for accessing audio books? I downloaded the app and it wants me to sign up for a subscription. I simply want to buy one audio book and listen to it. Then maybe I'd buy another one down the road. I hate subscriptions and I hate companies that use subscriptions to create recurring revenue at the mercy of the people who sign up to spend money every month over and over and over. And then usually it's very hard to get cancel the subscription which makes me even more psychotic. Anyway, I'm trying to listen to the book "The subtle art of not giving a ***"
  2. Morning- It's reading and tying season and came across Bonderow's "Stripers and Streamers: Successful Flies, Techniques and Other Insights". Likely a good read but was wondering if there were other suggestions? Mainly interested in strategy, fish habits, etc and not flies per se, I have that covered. Thanks
  3. Anyone have a copy of Ken Abrames’ A Perfect Fish: Illusions in Fly Tying in good condition they’d be willing to sell?
  4. Moving. Have tons of books, need to unload some. Here’s 4 essential books if you’re planning a trip there, tons of good info. Helped me on my trip some years ago. One book has some dogs ears at soft cover, but overall in very good condition. $45 shipped all 4.
  5. Not sure if there’s any interest in these but figured I’d take a shot to see. These are a vintage set of books on history by Shelby Foote. Asking $30 plus 5 to ship them.
  6. For sale is my John Gierach collection of books. The titles are, View from Rat Lake, Even Brook Trout get the blues, Sex, Death and Fly Fishing, Fly Fishing small streams, Another day in paradise, Trout Bum and Dances with trout. All are hardcover first editions except Fly Fishing small streams which I believe was only available in paper back. The copy of Trout Bum has no dust jacket. No tears or missing pages. I would prefer to sell these as a complete lot, but if that does not fly I would consider selling as pairs or individually. All shipping will be USPS media mail to keep the rates down. Asking $120.00 including shipping in continental USA.
  7. Still fighting crime at his age... the LAPD has a lousy retirement package I guess. I worry he's gonna break a hip
  8. Another entry for the SOL book club: BACK SEAT WITH FISH by Henry Hughes. Heard about this one last year. It’s a memoir of a guy from Long Island who grew up fishing for flounder, mackerel, tog, blues, bass; then goes to college in the Midwest and eventually winds up teaching in China and Japan. All the while he mixes fishing with girlfriends, and the book is about how the two are intertwined (sometimes like a really bad bird’s nest_. The fishing scenes range from local saltwater, to fishing for catfish and hybrid stripers in the Midwest, to hand-lining in Thailand, carp fishing in China, etc. Anyone who ever tried to take a girlfriend fishing – and failed or succeeded – would really like this book. Anyone else out there read this one? I couldn’t put it down...
