  1. Hey guys I have a question. Now that Memorial Day weekend is upon us the beach badge checkers will be checking for badges. It is my understanding that if I am fishing the surf it is my legal right to have access. In the past they have debated me on this premise and me being the nice guy that I am would just back down. This year will be different. Is there something definitive I can print out to show the beach badge checkers to gain access? Am I allowed to fish beaches guarded by lifeguards provided no one is swimming?
  2. Heard about this today while at Parsons Beach. According to the local beach constable the folks who have homes in the compound (13 owners) did a license plate survey and found that the majority of folks using the beach are from out of state and out of country (Quebec) and they would like to have Mainer's use the beach. I'm a retired local (Wells) just down the road so looks like I'll have to kick in $150 for a beach pass which I have no problem with as my wife and I spend many hours and days there, sunbathing, fishing, body boarding, picking up trash, reminding fisherman of the current regs etc. etc. but I feel sorry for the tourists who've been coming here for generations. I don't know when the beach pass goes into effect but it's coming. We are very lucky in this area to have property owners allow access to a private beach that is truly a gem on the East Coast. Any information you forum members have would be appreciated. Good story. Wish I could let it stay in the post, but it's a commercial link.
