Anyone using the 8WT for the salt? Anyone using the 7WT at all? Casted the 7WT and it was crisp, light and accurate. Unfortunately, most rods behave this way on the grass. Would like to hear some real world experiences.

Hey everybody, hope you all are being safe out there. I’m hoping to get some advice on a rod weight selection. Here’s the situation, My main type of fishing is in lakes for lm bass from a boat. I’d like to venture out for striper and other species of game fish and prefer having multiple rods set up for different conditions. I currently have an 8wt with a orvis bass float line and an 8wt with a rio ob sink 7. I’m looking at setting up an intermediate rig. i like the echo ion xl due to the price point either in 8wt or a 9wt paired with an airflo sniper in full int but i can’t decide which. Most fishing guides are using 9wt rods but I’m thinking in terms of cost effectiveness to go with another 8wt and sacrifice the power or follow the latter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can’t go fishing so I’ll just buy gear. Cheers!

I am selling my Teton Tioga #8 wt fly reel with its original box that is from the original series back in early 2000s. I am the original owner and it was used in the freshwater primarily and then as a backup in the saltwater after I moved. It is in good mechanical condition but has some rash on the bottom as shown.Comes with backing and 8wt intermediate fly line (I believe it was original RIO striper series). Price is $95 and I am located on Cape Cod.

I am selling a Cheeky Limitless 425 Fly Reel with box and pouch. I purchased this reel new last year and then never used it as it was a backup. It has a large arbor design at 4.25” diameter that is lightweight 7.5 oz and has a fully sealed drag. Located on Cape Cod and will ship. Price is $350.

I am selling a lightly used Hatch Finatic 7 Plus with a mid arbor spool along with original box and pouch. The reel was purchased this year and is in excellent condition. This real is a great all around 8 or 9wt reel, a little big/heavy for a 7wt but with the extra capacity of the mid arbor you could even spool it as a 10wt. I will include the backing but not the line. Price is $440 and I am located on Cape Cod.

Just got a new fly-fishing setup for stripers in creeks as well as chasing albies. It is a sage Flight 2 pc 8wt with a ros rapid 7/8 reel. I will primarily be throwing clousers and sandeel imitators. What kind of line and backing would be a fit for this.

Hi fellow anglers, I just got into fly fishing since moving to Florida 6 months ago. On Tuesday the 4th, I am going home to visit my family in Williamsburg, VA and would really like to do some fishing while home. I only have an 8wt saltwater rod, so I know my options are going to be somewhat limited. I hit up a angler I found online and he told me I could find striped bass along the Colonial Parkway, but he was kinda vague and CP is kinda big. Haha! Im guessing if I can find the fish, clousers are going to my best bet for flies? Any advice that anyone have might have for a fly fishing newbie would be greatly appreciated! Specific locations? Flies? Do I need a VA fishing license? Thanks guys! Jesse
