  1. Looking to trade practically new, fished a few times, Black VSX 200 No marks or scratches. Has 100 Yards of 20# Suffix mono and 275 yards of Suffix 832 40# braid on it.. Box and pouch included. It has been registered at VS for warranty. Would like to work a trade for an "excellent" condition Bailed VSB200 reel. Prefer black.
  2. Hey guys, this is my first post and I just wanted to test the waters and see if I can get an answer. Currently I fish with a custom made 9'6" lami with a penn battle. The rod is fairly stiff and id just like to upgrade it. i just ordered the St. Croix Mojo 10'6" MM because it'l be better for plugging and pencils then my current setup and I've been reading great reviews on the rod. Im looking to pair up the mojo with a vs200 or a vs250 in the near future. What do you recommend? The vs200 or the vs250 for a 10'6" Medium Moderate rod. I know that either reel will probably be suitable but id like to hear some opinions. Thanks guys
  3. I am selling a gold Van Staal VS200 that is loaded with 40lb braid that is in great shape cosmetically and mechanically. This is a USA-made reel (Serial# 150XX) but a more current model with the external counterweight and waterproof drag. No box or bag. I am located in Falmouth on Cape Cod and the price is $500 plus shipping/paypal fees. Sorry no trades.
  4. I am selling a made-in-USA Gold Van Staal 250 that is loaded with 40lb braid. This is an early model (serial number #25XX) with an internal counterweight and I don't believe it has a waterpoof drag. This reel is in great cosmetic shape, but it has been sitting around for a long time so it could use servicing. I don't have the original box or bag. Price is $425 plus shipping/paypal fees and I am located in Falmouth on Cape Cod.
  5. Used and well loved, I have a Black VS300 that I would like to trade straight up for a VS200 or VS250 of any color. I have taken very good care of this reel as I wash it and clean it after every trip. I have original box and purple VS bag. Serial number 1177. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested.
  6. For Sale (no offers or trades) Used a handful of times New-never casted 50lb Sufix 832 Offshore knob Single pick up bailless NO box or bag (Hunter Reel Bag can be added for an additional cost) See pictures for cosmetic condition it's a 9/10 in my eyes! $750 Buyer pays Shipping/Insurance and PayPal fee. First "I'll take it" gets it. Thank you!
  7. I've got a nice RH Hoyt Spyder 30 camo up for trade + Cash. The bow has 60 pound limbs, #2 cam, set at 27" currently. I do not have any other mods for it. Selling loaded, as you see it in the pics. It has a QAD HDX, Trophy Ridge React (5-pin), Rage Cage quiver, and Easton Axis arrows. No broadheads included. Everything is like new. Very few shots through it. Just a lightly used hunting rig! I'm looking for: St. Croix Legend 10-10.6' Lamiglas super surf G2 MHS Van Staal 200, 250 Etc Not interested in plugs. Will sell the bow for $750 OBO
  8. Anyone Selling a Gold VS200 ????? Even maybe a VS250. Comment below. Thanks everyone
  9. Morning All, Having an interesting issue with my vs200. Fished it hard the last 5 days... sumberged, climbing up on rocks etc... got back to the car after one trip where the reel had sustained a few scratches to the ceramic finish and noticed the following sound/feel: when I turn the handle while pulling away from the reel there is no resistance or noise (like usual), but when I push the handle in toward the reel or turn very fast there is an audible sound and feel of the gears turning, which didn't used to be there. It's not a grinding, but I can feel the gears of the reel turning, more like in a Penn 706 than VS. And specifically when I push the handle inward. Is anyone familiar or has anyone experienced this? Sending it in today...
  10. I have a mint condition silver vs200 for sale. I bought it last fall and test cast it a couple of times. Never fished. It's spooled with 30lb PowerPro all the way through (no mono backing... probably 550 or 600 yards of braid). I have the box and bag. Never registered. $525 picked up in the North Fork of Long Island or in Manhattan. $550 shipped. The price is very firm. Thanks
  11. I'm in need of a new rod and reel combo . My dream team would be a St Croix Legend Surf 11 with a Van Staal 250BXP or 275BXP .The problem with this set up is that i've hard it is not a good match up . The reason i like the St Coix Legend 11 3-8 is that it will handle lures from 2oz to 6oz without any problems and on top of that it is light , has a lifetime warranty and the low riders are a plus regarding casting distance . The bad thing is my choices are few regarding the reels i can use with it due to the spool diameter .The Van Staal is a proven work horse but is not a casting champion and the spool diameter will only make things go south with this set up . Casting distance is important to me but so is the lifetime of the equipment . I want something that will last , handle big fish , cast well , is light , that i can probably service myself .Anyone using a Van Staal 250 or 275 X series ? If so on what rod ? Does it cast well ? My best cast with a $30,00 reel and a $90,00 Okuma Longitude 11 rod is 156 yard .But i have to keep replacing this stuff almost every year . I know this topic always come up but so does new rods and reels . Also is the Legend 11 a good pencil popper rod ? Too many questions i know , but i'm ready to put up the money so let's see what you guys have to say . I'm counting on your experiences . Thank you !
  12. Looking to sell a VS200 silver. Reel is in perfect shape. Sorry picture did not come out that well. No scratches, dings etc. I have had this reel for 2 years and maybe used it 10 times. Comes with 30# power pro - done last year. I'm located in Bergen County - looking for local pickup and $500 cash.
  13. Up for sale are two used but excellent condition VS 150 and VS250B. I would like to raise money to get a Hobie Oasis. Yes, they've been dunked, and no, they haven't been serviced yearly. Yes, they have been registered but once you send it in for repair you can be the new owner; I'll provide whatever affadvit I can give although I don't have receipts for these. No boxes or manuals, just bags. The 150 has a full 300 yard spool of 14 or 20# fireline in great condition with minimal mono backing. The 250 has 300 yards of 20# FL tied to red dacron backed with mono. VS 150: $520 shipped insured with signature VS 250: $600 shipped insured with signature Buy both for $1080 shipped insured w/ sig Shipping sales require Paypal or USPS M.O. Look at how nice these have been kept before you try and lowball me! I'm in Putnam County, NY and travel to Westchester, Dutchess, Rockland, Bronx, and sometimes Bergen and Columbia counties. I'll be in Boston from 6/27- 6/30. I will be traveling to Bridgewater NJ end of July. In-person sales (cash only) will drop price by $30 per reel to $90 and $570, respectively. Buying both in-person = $1035. No trades unless you have a Hobie Oasis (2012 version with lidded front hatch and click and go drives; I'll pay the difference in cash if you take both reels). Thanks Tim, Derrick, & SOL!

  15. Announcing the 12th Annual Berkeley Striper Club Spring Catch & Release Striped Bass Tournament. This will be our second year in a Catch and Release format for this tournament and the 6th event that the BSC has run as a C&R tournament, dating back to 2011. We are excited to be holding this event again to support our club’s Fisheries Defense Fund. All of the profits generated through this C&R tournament go towards the BSC’s Fisheries Defense Fund which is designed to fund efforts that focus on effective management of striped bass, help provide a clean and productive habitat, and to protect important forage fish in the goal of enhancing our recreational fisheries. This past year we have made significant donations to Stripers Forever, The Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland, the Jersey Coast Anglers Association, Save Barnegat Bay and Monmouth University’s “Stripers for the Future” research, a study funded 100% by the BSC to assess the physiology of air exposed striped bass and develop recommendations of maximum time out of water for released fish. All told, we have donated over $38,000 in the past 11 years to organizations dedicated to the preservation of striped bass. Tournament dates run from May 29, 2015 to June 6, 2015. The awards ceremony will be June 7th at the Seaside Park Municipal Court Room starting at 2:00 and running to approximately 3:30. As we did last year, we will have two categories, one for surf, and one for boat. These are essentially run as two separate tournaments, so the surf caught fish are and boat caught fish are not competing against each other. As with last year, we will also have a grand prize that will be awarded by random drawing. You will not even have to enter a fish to win the grand prize. This year is a CTS 11’ Vapor Trail rod and Van Staal 200 X-Series reel, and a Pelican 45 quart cooler. We also have prizes for the surf and boat categories, generously donated from our sponsors such as Pelican, Tica, Stormr, Penn, Rh Custom Rods, Minn Kota, Grumpy’s Bait & Tackle, FiberStar, Superstrike Lures, Fisherman’s Supply, Daiwa, Kast, The Reel Seat, Tsunami, and many others. prize lists for both categories are below At the awards ceremony on Sunday, June 7th, we will be giving away over $10,000 in prizes. New this year, ONLINE REGISTRATION! No need to mail checks, show up at a weigh station to sign up, or chase down a tournament committee member anymore, though those will still be options to sign up if you so choose. To sign up online, you will need a PayPal account. Go to the link in our poster above. From that page click the “BSC C&R Spring Tournament” link and then follow the instructions on that page. Please make sure you read the tournament rules carefully, as they include instructions on how to submit a fish for the tournament. Thanks again for everyone's continued support. (Note to board admins, TimS gave his blessing for this post. Thanks Tim)

  19. Hi i'm looking for a new surf rod and i need it to be 7-8 foot medium for a vs 100 or vs 150. I would prefer it to be a thin cork handle with a small butt cap because i need it to fit through the roof rack holder on my truck. I only want the best company's for my rod because I don't want to cheap out. i already have a 11 foot lamiglas and a 6500 spinfisher so i dont need any suggestions for a bigger rod
  20. So I sent my VS250 (that I purchased from SOL) in for repairs. Turns out its going to be just over $300 to get it back. (Apparently the previous owner was not nice to it!) I was offered a new VS for $400 (they keep my old reel). Do I go with the new VS for $400 or my old American made serial #13xx for a little over $300? The x series is out of the question because its $560 ish if I do the trade in. Seems as though I should have just bit the bullet and gone with the ZB in the first place seeing how I will have around $800 invested in this one in just over a year! Any input from someone with experience between the original VS and the newer VS would be very helpful. Also the mandatory $50/year keep the warranty on the original vs. the option to get the self service kit of the newer reels.
  21. Looking for a Van Staal vs 200 any color. Thanks guys.
  22. So I got a good reel for a good price because it needed new handle side bearings. This is a made in China reel. I ordered the bearings and a new side plate just for good measure. I figure I'll just run with the same seal and save $10 since the reel doesn't get wet. I quickly have the bearings in the new side plate and come to find the seal is too large to fit in the new side plate. All the schematics show the same OSPR2 seal is used on all the reels. The bore on the old side plate is .625 while the bore on the new plate and the O.D. on the OSPR2 seal is .562. There is also a physical external difference between the two side plates. Old plate on the left. What is going on here?
  23. VS 200 for sale. Normal rock rash and wear. Have had it serviced at White Water about 1 year ago. This reel has been my tank. Never breaks down and has a smooth drag for a VS. I shrink wrapped the knob, but that can be taken off at the buyers discretion. I am looking for $550 cash preferable or PayPal. No MO and no checks. I live in Brooklyn but drive out to Suffolk or Nassau almost every weekend. This reel could be at your door next weekend. Serial number is 17XXX and I definitely have the box and I believe the bag as well, but I will have to check on that. No trades. Not looking for plugs thank you. Pics:
  24. over on the BST forum? I know they are supposed to be the best reels. Why are people wanting to sell? Seems like the VS reels are the ones you see the most that are up for sale here.
