Ran across this old French Spinning Reel that does not have manufactures name or model number. I would appreciate any information you might have. It has a spool that is marked Pelican and is the size of a Orvis 100 because the spool from the Orvis fits perfectly. Everything works great but It need a new bail spring. Thanks Roger

Announcing the 12th Annual Berkeley Striper Club Spring Catch & Release Striped Bass Tournament. This will be our second year in a Catch and Release format for this tournament and the 6th event that the BSC has run as a C&R tournament, dating back to 2011. We are excited to be holding this event again to support our club’s Fisheries Defense Fund. All of the profits generated through this C&R tournament go towards the BSC’s Fisheries Defense Fund which is designed to fund efforts that focus on effective management of striped bass, help provide a clean and productive habitat, and to protect important forage fish in the goal of enhancing our recreational fisheries. This past year we have made significant donations to Stripers Forever, The Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland, the Jersey Coast Anglers Association, Save Barnegat Bay and Monmouth University’s “Stripers for the Future” research, a study funded 100% by the BSC to assess the physiology of air exposed striped bass and develop recommendations of maximum time out of water for released fish. All told, we have donated over $38,000 in the past 11 years to organizations dedicated to the preservation of striped bass. Tournament dates run from May 29, 2015 to June 6, 2015. The awards ceremony will be June 7th at the Seaside Park Municipal Court Room starting at 2:00 and running to approximately 3:30. As we did last year, we will have two categories, one for surf, and one for boat. These are essentially run as two separate tournaments, so the surf caught fish are and boat caught fish are not competing against each other. As with last year, we will also have a grand prize that will be awarded by random drawing. You will not even have to enter a fish to win the grand prize. This year is a CTS 11’ Vapor Trail rod and Van Staal 200 X-Series reel, and a Pelican 45 quart cooler. We also have prizes for the surf and boat categories, generously donated from our sponsors such as Pelican, Tica, Stormr, Penn, Rh Custom Rods, Minn Kota, Grumpy’s Bait & Tackle, FiberStar, Superstrike Lures, Fisherman’s Supply, Daiwa, Kast, The Reel Seat, Tsunami, and many others. prize lists for both categories are below At the awards ceremony on Sunday, June 7th, we will be giving away over $10,000 in prizes. New this year, ONLINE REGISTRATION! No need to mail checks, show up at a weigh station to sign up, or chase down a tournament committee member anymore, though those will still be options to sign up if you so choose. To sign up online, you will need a PayPal account. Go to the link in our poster above. From that page click the “BSC C&R Spring Tournament” link and then follow the instructions on that page. Please make sure you read the tournament rules carefully, as they include instructions on how to submit a fish for the tournament. Thanks again for everyone's continued support. (Note to board admins, TimS gave his blessing for this post. Thanks Tim)
