  1. As far as conventional bait casters go, which type of blank do you prefer for throwing lures say 1-3 ounces, and for typical bait situations? Where do you draw the line from the parabolic action and go to a faster tip action to get the best results? I'm looking at my next few projects and would appreciate your input. Thanks in advance. Happy Holidays to you all.
  2. I always do, it just makes my life easier that way. Happy 4th to ya.
  3. I'll take the green 710--will have to get back with you after I get home tomorrow if you don't mind. Thanks, KC
  4. Billy, That is what I call a real HOOK SET!!!!!LMAO Chers
  5. Try Neals in AZ--He still has ferrules. And yes you will have to measure both sides to get the correct size. They are in 64's BTW. Just give him a call, he's very helpful
  6. Mix 1/3 Cup A1 Steak Sauce 1/4 Cup Ketchup 1/2 Cup Apricot Preserves 1 Table spoon Lemon Juice This makes a about 1 cup, enough for dinner for two. We tripple the recipe and have about a quart left over. It stores well in the fridge. It is great on chicken, or for tonight; baby back ribs!!! Enjoy yourselves!
  7. David123---Try using a coffee grinder rather than a blender to powder your Habaneros=less dust and mess. But by all means, keep your hand on the top of whatever you use so it dosen't explode and let the dust go EVERYWHERE!!! LOL Loved your post! I can just imagin all your gusests sitting around in respirators wating for dinner, what a sight that would be!
  8. F'nY--What you propose will work, however you might try 25, 16, then 10's out to the tip. It would cut down a lot on the weight on the tip of the rod and give you much better response! I don't know how big a 710Z spool is, but the rule of thumb is 1/2 the diameter of the spool for your striper guide, you may have to use a 30. Tape the guides on and try a few casts, you'll be surprised. Best of luck.
  9. shamless bump. come on guys, some one out there knows this stuff, I need some help here.
  10. Does anyone know how the weights relate to each other. Does two black = one white? Do two red = one black? And just for fun, are the square ones the same as the rounds ones or are they not interchangable? Thanks, KC

    Danish Oil

Spoonerjt; I've used the stuff for years, and love it! All good advice above, but you can also air dry the used rags, hang in a line outdoors and then saftly dispose of them. KC
  12. RnR--A little off topic, but be sure to check your book for the correct grade of gas to use!!! Some of the newer two strokes say to use mid grade gas, so watch out. If you ever have a warranty issue, they do check to see what grade of gas is in the machine!!!
  13. Being dissatisfied with one of my Abu reel purchases this year, I couldn"™t cast the thing worth two cents; I decided to try and oil it with some good stuff before giving up on it. Well that failed to improve matters so I decided to try of all things, a tube of PROLONG oil I had on hand. Yep, the very same stuff I put in my truck to reduce friction; they gave me a small precision tube when I got the latest kit for my truck. Well let me tell ya, I don"™t know if I stumbled on something or just got lucky-but the stuff works!!!!! It worked so good that I was getting backlashes with the reel throwing ½ oz lures, but was OK with ¾ oz and larger stuff! Now I"™m no magician with Abu"™s, but the rest of my reels I have no problems with, they all have bearings; but this one has bushings and I"™ve always had problems with it, but now this one will keep up with my others. Now the only problem I have is to remember not to throw light stuff! Have any of you had similar results, or horror stories? I may be foolish and try this stuff on bearings, it really impressed me!
  14. Usually because the guide feet were'nt propperly preped in the first place. The guide feet are quite stiff compared to a rod, so when the rod flexes past the point of the flex of the foot, you can get cracking in the finish. A lit of older guides were so stiff this happened a lot. But I have seen the same thing happen with really great guide foot prep on a rod that is very limber. It could also be that the epoxy might have been put on a little too thick, or not. If it is not too severe it might be just normal. KC
  15. R&R I'll take the Abu for 50 + 5 for shipping. PM me where to send the check. Thanks KC
