  1. Hi Chris! that’s great to hear! I love fishing them as much as I do painting them
  2. Here’s a closeup where you can see some more of the brushstrokes and detail
  3. thanks guys much appreciated!
  4. Hope you like it...named after the Nomad Riptides sitting on the old tabletop. Nomad marketing guys were kind enough to share the original image with me as reference. I love fishing these lures so painting them just feels "right " lol. It's a good size- 48"x36" so it took a while to finish! Pics never do it justice, it's more vibrant in person tight lines! Adam
  5. Love my gosa. The only thing I'd change would be a slightly higher retrieve rate.
  6. Not really that in depth but it gets discussed often here. I have friends in forestry and in the bc wildlife federation so it tends to come up a bit! Cheers
  7. Yes very true about enforcement. Forestry is huge here and is one of the provinces main sources of economy. We've traditionally been a resource based economy, mining is a big driver as well. Like I mentioned in a reply to baywatcher, if you take a flight over many areas of the province it'd bring a tear to your eye. Vancouver island, especially, has been extensively logged. I remember as a kid when they logged an area near the family farm...just completely gone and made into a moonscape. At that age I didn't understand why they wouldn't leave some trees; now, at my age I know why they do it but still can't fathom why they did it so recklessly. This isn't exclusive to Vancouver Island, BC or even Canada. It's just the way things are done when the primary motivator is profit and regulations are conducive to a "wild west" approach. Brutal and it is catching up to us. Whether we notice and adjust accordingly remains to be seen. This isn't to say we can't still practice forestry, just that we should be smarter about it.
  8. It is definitely true that our resources, monetary and manpower, are stretched thin and we can't possibly hope to address every fire appropriately much less in a way that would satisfy some people being affected by the smoke. The "you did this to yourselves" thing is a bit grinding to hear, I have to admit... in no small part due to the fact that many of the forestry companies operating in Canada and engaging in poor forestry management practices are, in fact, US based companies. It is true, though, that stronger regulations designed to protect the resource from overzealous forestry practices long-term may have helped to prevent/contain some of the fires so I think in a sense, you're both right.
  9. Thanks Skunkoff! Great handle btw
  10. It's a Penn slammer 4 DX. The DX are their special limited edition dealer exclusive ones that come in stainless steel...they don't have the trademark black/gold penn look. I thought it was a shimano the first time i saw it too. Cheers
  11. Thanks MattieG! I have some of them posted in another thread here too, or you can check them on my instagram @adbkartist, that's the easiest place for me to share them. I use acrylics, specifically Golden (the brand) Open paints. They have a nice working time for acrylics and if I use what's called a "stay wet" palette it makes them a little bit more like oils. They still dry quickly once on the canvas but you do get a lot more time than with regular acrylics which dry so fast and make blending where it's needed really difficult.
  12. You should see aerial photography of Vancouver island if you want to see the results of some terrible forestry practices… gigantic swaths of land clearcut by big forestry giants. Just brutal, and apparently fine with our provincial government at the time. we have a small forest fire burning nearby, got to see a squadron of 6 or 7 fire boss planes come down and pick up water out of Okanagan lake to go fight it. Pretty cool, they are converted air tractors used for spraying, you wouldn’t think it by looking at them, but they hold a lot of water in the built in tank in the bottom of the fuselage.
