  1. I have a stock one. Not sure on its condition. If I remember correctly it would be about a 7-8 out of 10.
  2. This was first time out with the new setup. So happy
  3. I’d like to thank Ferret and John2211. I’m loving this new setup and can’t wait to land a tuna with it. Ferret sold me the rod and John2211 sold me the reel. Ferret meet me off my local highway for sale. Super convenient for me. John was also great. He installed pay pal so I could make payment and shipped fed ex with tracking. Great experience. The people here a great and I’m so happy I joined. I hope that I can help someone in need sometime. This place is awesome!
  4. It’s a long shot but, Is this reel still available? I’m interested thank you Pete
  5. I’m interested in the shimano Terez 7’8” 50-100lb. Pictures please. How old is it? I don’t see a 7’8” pole on Shimano website. Thanks, Pete
  6. Curious if anyone is looking to sell a Penn Torque 9500 spinner.
  7. Little background on me. I can cast a conventional. I grew up using jig master casting bunker chunks with a 6’6” boat pole. Didn’t get much distance, but enough to cast into rocks and shoreline. I also use a small low profile conventional on my schoolie/ freshwater rig. By NO means am I good at it. I’d rate myself as a low decent conventional caster. This past week was my first time surf casting. I bought a 12’ spinning pole to match up with a Penn 8500 spin fish live liner. I’m in process of building a conventional casting reel that some day I’ll buy a rod for. As for this trip I couldn’t trust myself enough to try conventional long casting, mainly because I knew it was going to be dark and knowingly I will get some kind of backlash or nest. Everything being the same, well as close as it could be. Line, weight, pole length, etc. what kind of gains can someone see on average? What kind of distance should I be seeing with my current setup? I was using 30lb mono (I know I know). Hard to judge but maybe I was getting 60-70 yards. Does that seem average? Thanks, Pete
  8. I’m working on an older Penn Mag 10 that I removed the level wind on and bought new bearings from boca have plans to beef up the drag system and gear sleeve. Should be good for about 20lbs of drag. Line capacity and 4:1 ratio might be an issue. That’s all “if” I can tame it enough to surf cast. Otherwise it’s going on a jigging rod. Lol.
  9. Just curious on what everyone is using for surf casting. I’m currently new to surf casting and I’m using a spinning reel. How many of you use a conventional style reel? Don’t chop my head off but heard conventional reel will cast further. Is that true?

  11. We were the only ones out there. I also don’t fish on top of other people.
