  1. Very informative indeed.
  2. Thanks. On the other hand, from what I know, south wind often brings bait to the shore.
  3. Guys, two questions: 1) What is the most favorable wind direction for surf fishing on Chatham, MA, beaches? 2) Any advise/pointers/tips on Ridgevale Beach fishing? Thanks much in advance.
  4. LockedDrag, why do you think inlines are garbage? What is their principal drawback?
  5. There’s been a lot discussions in the past couple of years as to the effectiveness of replacing treble hooks on various lures with inline ones. The arguments usually revolve around two aspects. Advocates of treble hooks argue that with inline hooks fish often misses them. Advocates of inlines say that trebles harm fish and are often hard to extract. I wonder if anybody can shed light and/or share views on these questions: 1) Do inline hooks really make lures work better and easier to fish? 2)What is the rough percentage of misses on plugs with inline hooks? 3) Do inline hooks work better with blues or stripers (given that they attack lures in different manner)?
  6. Every time I fish for blues on Cape I use a 40-lb braid. Is this too much and should I switch to 30 lb?
  7. Thanks much, FoulHooker.
  8. Gulls can also drive you crazy, picking the lure when casting into the blitz.
  9. I guess they’re everywhere on the Cape. I have regularly seen seals while fishing on Race Point and Herring Cove Beaches, and near Truro area beaches.
  10. What’s the best place to buy bait in Chatham (or the area)? I have noticed that for some reason few people comment on surf fishing in Chatham. This makes me wonder that perhaps Chatham is not a productive blues and striper fishing location compared to other places on the Cape. Or is it?
  11. The thing is that I’ll be staying in Chatham. I don’t want to run up and down the Cape. Hope to find a fishable beach in Chatham.
  12. Thanks, FoulHooker. Many recommend fishing near the Chatham lighthouse, but from what I remember, there’s no parking there. There is, of course, a long parking row along Main Street, but it is a 30-minute one because this particular stretch of the road is designated as a “lookout area”, if I am not mistaken.
  13. Thank you, nicknotsebastian. It is amazing really, that there’s no real B&T in Chatham proper. The town has historically been known as a fishing community.
  14. Thanks. Although, I have always thought that NCO was a clothing store and not your traditional B&T.
  15. Thanks much, everyone for the advice. Incidentally, is there a B&T in Chatham?
