Makes good sense, and I'll remember it for the future.
Unfortunately, due to some health problems with the inlaws, it looks like this year's trip may get scrapped.
Thanks for your thoughts!
I think I ran into a turnover situation this past weekend. Let me know what you guys think:
Large pond in a local public park. It is generally gin clear and heavily fished. I thought I'd take advantage of the smaller crowds this year and sneak over and give it a shot.
I was surprised to find a serious algea bloom in progress! The water looked almost like pea soup. Most of the weeds in the pond have died back by now, and I'm guessing the algea I saw was in response to the upwelling of nutrients that Sweetwater mentioned above.
What do you think?
Second what Otter said about bumping something. Be it bottom, downed wood, a dock piling, whatever. Make sure you bump something, then immediately stop your retrieve, makes the plug look like its stunned. Makes fish crazy!
I've used them with some success in the past. The past few years though, most of my fishing seems to be on gin clear, heavily pressured waters. In those situations I usually opt for a more subtle presentation.
I'm headed down to visit my inlaws over Thanksgiving. They live about 5 minutes away from beautiful Norfork Lake. Norfork is supposed to have a pretty good striper population, with numerous 30# fish and a few 40#s each year.
I've done well on LMBs and slab crappies on that lake, but I've never targeted stripers.
Anyone have any experience on that lake?
