  1. Hey guys, I just purchased a brand new Spinfisher VI 4500. It's the first reel I've ever got that was over $100. When I got the reel, I noticed the spool cap sounds a bit weird. I ended up going to Dicks Sporting Goods and tried it on a 5500 and it definitely sounds different. Can anyone tell me if I'm going crazy or it sounds a bit weird. I posted the video below:
  2. I was looking at those. I would need a Large in them. I don't know how I feel about that. Would appreciate if you let me know how they fit on you.
  3. I searched the forum for this exact topic and I can't seem to find anything good. I'm 5'10/150ish with a shoe size of 11. I'm looking for a pair of waders less than $200. Don't really care if they are stockingfoot or bootfoot. I see a lot of people talking about the Frogg Togg Hellbender Breathables but I also read they fit better for bigger guys. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Haha. This is the damn truth. I'm in my 30s and I remember as a kid how the fishing was. It's slowly got worse and worse. Let's just try and be positive.
  5. Thanks for the advice/suggestions. Slammer's a bit out of my league right now. Maybe in the future.
  6. I finally was able to get my hands on a 9ft Penn Prevail ll Surf Rod and I'm looking to pair it with a reel. I'm torn between these two right now. I think weight-wise the balance is better with the 4500 but obviously the bigger spool/bigger handle is on the 5500. I'm in NY and plan on doing surf fishing for stripers/blues etc. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  7. I'm torn! I went to try out the Spinfisher VI 4500 and it is definitely a nice reel. I'm torn between a smaller lighter reel or a bigger reel but heavier. What a dilemma!
  8. I just got the Battle lll 5000 in the mail. I think I have to return it because it does feel too heavy. Will have to look at the 4000/4500 series to pair it with the 9fter.
  9. I'm leaning towards 9ft because I want to use it early in the season for the bay and I know the 10ft would be overkill. I've seen the Spinfisher and I've also heard good things about the Conflict. Both are more than I'd like to spend. I might look at the 4000 series for the Fierce or Battle. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
  10. Hello everyone, I've done a lot of pier fishing around NY/LI my entire life but I never really fished from the surf. This upcoming season I'm trying to change that. I've been looking for a budget reel/rod and I'm wondering if the Battle lll 5000 with a Penn Prevail ll 9ft MH will do the trick for me? I know this combo isn't the lightest in the world as the reel is 18oz and the rod is 13oz but it fits my price point. I've heard good things about both of them and I would love some feedback. Thanks!
