  1. 6,1 and 180 pounds I have a pair of grundens herkules bibs, size medium Tried a large on once but was swimming in them.
  2. Ande tournament inshore rod ($50) - picked one up in a pinch and is now my go to rod
  3. The water is warming up quick, temps are a few degrees above normal for this time of year. Not to long before some bass are here.
  4. Was in southeast FL a month or so ago, pink and chartreuse gotcha patterns were very productive for snook and jacks. Can never have too many flies. When you key in on the right fly always seems they are all gone in a couple of days. Awesome boxes!
  5. Let's see some fly boxes Location - Southern Maine/North Shore MA Target - Striper *This is a big box I keep in the car to refill smaller the smaller fly box I take with me on outings.
  6. So I was just about to tie a weighted deceiver, when tying a clouser the hook rides point up. Will a lead wrapped hook do the same or will it sink point down? Thanks for any input.
  7. Here is a pretty good diagram of what the lines will do, in any case it really depends on how you initially let the line sink once you get your cast out. Depending on how deep I want to fish I will sometimes let the line sink for 15 or so seconds. Once you start stripping the fly line in it will go towards the surface just because of the angle you are bringing the line back at.
  8. full sink = getting down deep in moving water Sink tip = better for getting deep in slow or still water Overall I like sink tips, but the problem is that they are connected to floating so they can sometimes ride to high in the water column.
  9. If you put a wooden dowel through the spool and put your feet against the dowel, I have found if you put enough pressure on the dowel you will get a pretty wrap around the spool.
  10. For striped bass I usually go with 40#/20#, 5ft of 40 and 4ft of 20 sometimes and I will go with 50/30 or 60/40/20 but really all depends on what works for you. Just avoid going with anything less than 40 attached to your fly line or you risk the mono/fluro cutting through fly line. For a brand - Ande or Rio (no reason just what I started buying and haven't changed)
  11. What is the value of a Penn International fly reel 2.5 (used)? Can only seem to find one on eBay for $400... seems pretty steep Thank you for any help
  12. I fish a lot of spots like that, any thing that can create an Eddie in the current can be very productive. 2hrs after high is usually my go to for a place like that but it all depends on the spot.
  13. I am local to there, I will usually drift one of the outflows and a big sturgeon jumped about 10-15ft from the boat. I will second that, it is the most sturgeon action I have seen all around souther main. I think more times than not I would see a sturgeon breach while fishing.
  14. Intersted in some lines and possibly reels/spools if you have a size 9wt or 10wt reels/spools. Where are you located in MA I am currently in Beverly MA? Is local pick up possible?
