  1. Hi all, I would like to try trolling mojo’s this year from my kayak to switch things up from the regular tube & worm (and give my wallet a break from $10.50 for sandworms). I have a trolling motor on my kayak so speed and stamina are not an issue and can stay at 2-4 mph. On YouTube everyone is using some heavy heavy lead. Could an experienced user tell me what I should be looking at using for 25-30 feet of water. I want to use a tandem for the increased odds. Magic tail and Tony Maja make an 8x4. Thoughts? Rock Fish Candy makes a 6x2, 5x3, 6x3, 7x3, and an 8x4 as well. Basically, I am hoping to figure out what is too heavy for my usage. Thanks!
  2. TonyO provided alot of good info. Any other good tips you figured out along the way? I guess my biggest dilemma is whether or not to rent the rod for $40. I bought two avet jx g2’s this summer that are rated for 28lbs of drag. They are on connley kingfish 20-50 rods. I figured I would at least jig with one of these since lighter gear is ideal for that anyways. Wondering if I should bring the other for chunking? Will bring flat fall and speed jigs, 40,60,80 flouro, hooks, egg sinkers, spare rod for pitching chunk bait to mahi. Ive never caught squid before but its a no brainer live bait would be the best bait on the boat, did you jig for squid out there? thanks!
  3. Thank you so much! That was the info I needed... really appreciate it!
  4. Thanks for the tips! I searched on here and was able to gather some good information. My one question relates to gear... I understand we will troll during the day with the boats rods and then anchor up at night to chunk/jig. I have two avet jx g2’s with 600yds of power pro depth hunter 50lb braid. I was thinking i would probably be okay to jig with one of them. Should I add a top shot and try to chunk with the other or just rent one from them? I just purchased and spooled them 2 months ago so not really interested in respooling with 65-80lb for this trip. Also do I need to bring anything like hooks, leaders, weights, etc?
  5. Has anyone has a good experience on the Tuna trips? I have a 3 day trip booked on the Helen H this fall and am trying to get as much information as possible. First time fishing in the canyons.
