  1. I might have missed it but what I find most interesting is the correlations, or sometimes lack thereof, of ABS to FG knot strength. What do you attribute to that? Any correlation to strand type or number or coating? Ultimately if using an FG knot that number is especially interesting to me rather than the never reaches ABS. Thanks for any insight. Slow pitching for large bottom dwellers on the large reef ledges of central Florida ever LB of capability matters.
  2. Edit: I just realized it's a 40-60 rod. I need something a little heavier. My apologies.
  3. If you decide to ship let me know. interested but in FL
  4. If this is still available, I'll take it.
  5. with that rod, the 2500 is all you need. You'll have more than enough line capacity and drag difference is insignificant.
  6. Only downside is most designated travel rods arent very cheap.
  7. If you're fishing closer to cover (bridges in this case) you'll want a slightly shorter rod than normal. you will be more accurate with your casting. I prefer 6'6" or 7' for those situations. wide open casting for distance go with the 7'6" or 8'
  8. Why not just a 3 or 4 piece travel rod?
  9. I keep all my trips in an excel file that I usually update the day after. I'll usually make a mental note of conditions or changes during.
  10. Knot to the popper isnt going to make a difference with any sort of decent cast. Leader make up is dependent on where you're fishing. Regardless, for poppers stick with mono.
  11. Call Bauer. They've been responsive for me in the past.
  12. I've tried the leader and weed eater string in the past, it doesn't seem as effective as the golf tees, the weed eater string tends to curl and that can grab your line especially if the cut isn't clean. The golf tees work great, only downside is you need to watch your stripping and make sure your hand doesn't go into one. I rounded the tips of all of mine off.
  13. Nicely done! I like the step stool. Curved for your body too! Is it big enough to store a full casts worth of line without getting tangles?
