  1. Hi, I am looking for any advice or buddies to fish the Hudson this spring. I live near Rockland/Westchester but I am willing to travel north I imagine. I have an Autopilot 136 and my buddy has a Hobie. We usually fish New Rochelle bay and Jamaica bay. Thanks!
  2. I tried launching from the Sea plane area and skunked. Last week I launched form the Cross bay bridge area and limited on coctail blues and had 4 short fluke. My buddy had 1 keeper at 20 and limit on cocktails. Another kayaker that wasn't with us said he got a 28. Yes the traffic is bad sometimes as it took me an extra half hour to get home. Only reason I saw this post is because I have this forum section set to watch. I'll watch the NJ section as well. Can you point me to it? There's a tentative plan of going on Friday again.
  3. I am near Montvale NJ. Heading to Jamaica bay tomorrow.
  4. They cancelled my campsite reservation. I wouldn't hold my breath.
  5. I'll take the yak attack and bunka bag for $55 thanks
  6. PENN Pursuit III Spinning Reel and Fishing Rod Combo $40 + Free Shipping at Walmart. Bait and wait maybe?
  7. I'll take grabby vs hook in finger that I can't feel because my fingers are frozen. lol
  8. I just used this in the Yak on Saturday and really liked them. Raritan Bay water temp was in the 40's. Pro Angler by Glacier Glove
  9. I had to self rescue in Cape May at a jetty this year. I keep everything leashed so didn't really lose anything. Was able to flip the yak the first try and hop in the first try. Definitely try to keep the deck clear especially from hooks. I watched some videos on the how to's for my kayak and that helped a ton. You will more than likely flip on a surf re-entry you first time especially if it's rough. I have a semi dry now and it would be a good learning experience to try a cold water self rescue to be better prepared. Thank's for all the great info everyone!
  10. Lots of great info here. Subscribed. Thanks!
  11. I'm from Rockland as well and this is my first season of actively fishing salt. Let me know if you want to go exploring the Hudson some time. I have some ideas but it's just based on fishing apps.
  12. How is kayak fishing on the Hudson? I live in Rockland county and was looking for alternatives to trekking down to NJ or out to LI. Thanks!
  13. Caught my first decent sized kayak fish this morning. Yay
