  1. thanks for the advise. I’ve seen tfo at my local store they seem good for the price point but never cast one though. I was leaning towards the 9wt as well. Cheers!
  2. Hey everybody, hope you all are being safe out there. I’m hoping to get some advice on a rod weight selection. Here’s the situation, My main type of fishing is in lakes for lm bass from a boat. I’d like to venture out for striper and other species of game fish and prefer having multiple rods set up for different conditions. I currently have an 8wt with a orvis bass float line and an 8wt with a rio ob sink 7. I’m looking at setting up an intermediate rig. i like the echo ion xl due to the price point either in 8wt or a 9wt paired with an airflo sniper in full int but i can’t decide which. Most fishing guides are using 9wt rods but I’m thinking in terms of cost effectiveness to go with another 8wt and sacrifice the power or follow the latter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can’t go fishing so I’ll just buy gear. Cheers!
  3. @crunch that’s a really interesting technique with the bottom hand. I’m going to have to try that. I agree that the role cast used to raise sinking lines is noisy and inefficient especially in still water.
  4. What didn't you like about the sniper? I've read some of the same things about the sniper line not coiling which sparked my interest initially. i use an echo rod which recommends there lines is obviously bias. i guess if they were truly awesome there would be a lot more reviews out there although I'm not to sure how long they've been out. I guess i could get on the OBS band wagon and be good with it. My TH rod prefers a shooting head style line. I was messing around with my orvis depth charge and could not role cast that level line out to aerialize with more than 25-30 feet out for the life of me. although the depth charge is good for single hand casting.
  5. Hello people, Long time reader, first time poster. I haven’t seen any dedicated info or opinions on the airflo sniper line. I know there are a lot of anglers who use and love the rio obs series of lines. The airflo sniper is almost exactly the same dimensions but not too much info on the sniper. I’m looking to invest in a series of lines so that there will be consistency and no guess work on performance with using different brands. Is that a good idea? What are your applications? Being there are soo many options out there i feel like I'm guessing instead of buying with confidence. I was also looking into rio obs series. I’m going to be using these lines on my 9’ 8wt and echo beach boost 8wt 12’ th surf rod. I’d be using these on stillwater and the surf for any species. Thanks for the help! Cheers!
