  1. Thank you so much, TheBlueLine x Gosh, I've no idea, Cabo2005, I'll ask :-)
  2. I wish I could take you all out for dinner <3
  3. I can offer a few options.

    1) the place I go for striped bass involves fishing at night,  jumping a fence and climbing up and down some large rocks. Then the fishing is easy and most likely productive.

    2) a spot very near the first one where fishing is done from a government created spot. Again, a nighttime thing. Easy access - could be productive, just may not be overly so.  A busy area in that   It is a commercial area.

    3) State Park for daytime. Some light easy wading will likely produce Sea Robins, small striped bass possible. Maybe a fluke.

All these are artificial lure fishing. In eastern Connecticut. If I can assist (I can go) in any way, let me know.

  4. TheBlueLine: It says you can't receive messages. Maybe Admin could look at this, please?
  5. Thank you so much, John. I just showed the pic to his mother and she said he'd be over the moon to accept that. I'm going to private message you the address now if that's OK? x
  6. Hi everyone, thank you so much for your patience and in particular, your very generous offers of help and support. We finally reached the end of our fundraising, albeit a little short of our target. But we managed to raise enough for plane fares and accommodation in New York. We met up with our sick friend the day before yesterday and told her what we'd done and to say she is shocked and utterly thrilled is an understatement! There were tears and laughter and lots of planning about how best to do this. It's been decided that this has to happen sooner rather than later so she and her son are booked to fly to NY on the 23rd May - he is excited beyond belief. However, for various reasons, the trip will be a little shorter than anticipated. They will be in the States from the 23rd until the 29th, spending four days in NY and two days elsewhere. When we factored in how little time there is available to get the train to Boston, the cost of travel and accommodation etc., it was decided that it just isn't possible. However, she has a relative in Connecticut who she can stay with for a couple of days and who will take them fishing and collect them from NY and drive them back to the airport when it's time to return. What I really want to say, though, is thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts here in Dublin. I kept my friends up to speed with all your kind offers and told my sick pal about your generosity of time, spirit and immense kindness. She is now sorry that she won't get to meet any of you. She and my friends have asked me to convey our profound gratitude to you all - we will never forget the willingness of strangers to help us out without question or expectation of anything in return. In a world that often feels bleak and selfish, we can lose sight of the inherent goodness and kindness of people. So again, thank you all so very much, and in particular; TimS, Dthfrmabove, EastEndAngler, Southcoastphil, SharkLobster, Cabo and nicknotsebastian. I nearly feel like a member of this amazing fishing community now - even though I don't know a thing about fishing! I will remember you all fondly and with great respect. Much love to you all. Jacqui xx
  7. Hi all, just a quick update. We're slowly but surely inching towards our fundraising target. We reckon another couple of weeks should do it. We are then going to meet with our friend and let her know what we've done and hopefully then, we can identify dates with her that will fit in with her treatment programme. Thank you all so very much for your kindness and patience, and as soon as I know more, I will get back to you. If anyone needs any specific details, please do not hesitate to PM me. Thanks again :-)
  8. Shark Lobster, I'm overwhelmed by your very kind offer, that would be amazing. I met with my friends last night to try to work out how we are going to put all this together and we hope to have more details about when our sick friend and her son can travel in the next couple of weeks. I will get back to you as soon as we've firmed up dates. Thanks again to all of you - what an amazing community you are <3
  9. Phil, thank you very much for your offer. As soon as I get the information you've requested, I will get straight back to you :-)
  10. Thank you very much, EastEndAngler :-)
  11. I am actually overcome by the kindness of people, thank you again, Tim and Shawn. It really does restore one's faith in humanity :-) I will be delighted to private message you, Shawn.
  12. I just wanted to touch base with you privately. Please feel free to get in contact with me on here and as we go forward I will give you my number to call

Thank you Shawn. I really appreciate your incredible kindness and I know my friend and her son will be bowled over. We are going to hold off telling her until we have raised enough money for flights and we're confident we can do that in the next couple of weeks. I checked my inbox that Tim has so kindly activated but your message wasn't there - this appeared in my emails. I'm afraid I'm not too clued in about how this forum works so not sure if this message is public or private :-)

  13. Thank you TimS and Shawn Michael Coffey. Is private messaging permitted? :-)
  14. I'm really not sure why my posts are taking so long to be approved - do I need to do something else, Admin/Moderator? I don't want people to think I'm being rude in not replying :-)
  15. Thank you very much for your responses, I really appreciate them. Captain, I can assure you it's not a scam - it's genuinely a small group of friends trying to do the best they can for their seriously ill friend. I'm not sure how to convince you but I understand your concern. I would be happy to provide some personal info in private if anyone feels it necessary. Dthfrmabove, you're very kind. I believe she might be able to travel in May or June, we are trying to establish when will be good for her because she is currently undergoing treatment. I can let you know as soon as we find out. Your kind offer is greatly appreciated and I think there's a bit of Irish in everyone! ;-)
