  1. Hi Folks, I'm new to rod building and to this forum. I was building my first rod, and put the epoxy on the wraps. I have cats in my house so I locked the rod up in a bedroom and left it unattended for a few hours. When I returned I found the rod on the carpet, apparently the motor slowly walked it's way off the phone book I placed under it and now most of my wraps have a little carpet fuzz in them. I've been surfing the net to figure out what to do and short of cutting/removing the guides and starting over haven't found other potential options. I'm considering the attempting one, or several of the following before removing the guides and starting over: 1) Goof Off to remove the Epoxy, but worried it could damage the blank or discolor the thread 2) Apply Heat, Heat Gun, Hair Dryer, Lighter and try to "shave" off the fuzzy side of the Epoxy 3) Very Fine Sand Paper, rotating the rod and attempt to sand down and remove the "fuzz" but not take the Epoxy all the way down to the Thread I did successfully "shave" one or two of the larger wraps that weren't contaminated as much as the smaller section of the rod. While it might have worked OK on the larger wraps, and if I apply epoxy over it should be OK, this method will not work on the smaller sections of the rod, I'm sure I'd cut thread. Any advise or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and yes I feel like a complete idiot for not testing out my jig setup for a few hours before applying the epoxy. Thanks, Joe
