  1. Putting multiple, full sentences in the subject line of an email, occasionally compounded by adding (EOM) and still putting text in the email body. or Someone asking you question while music or talk radio is playing from a cell phone in their hand/pocket.
  2. I'm pretty sure I know of whom you're speaking and, if so, today is the day of his annual fishing tournament.
  3. Tried just about every jig I had this morning going for a striper, but came up empty. Switched to a Carolina Rig and caught a perch on each of the first 3 casts using sand crabs, including my first ever red tail. I released it even though it was >10.5" and also released the 14.5" female barred that followed it. I kept an 11" male barred later to give to my mom because I still feel guilty about that 20+" striper from a couple months ago that I released instead of bringing it to her.
  4. I believe most of the X-Rap model lures come stock with VMC single hooks. One thing I forgot to mention is that it was the first time I had used the lure AND it was on the very first cast. I only switched to it because there was an onshore breeze and I wanted the extra weight compared to the LC Flash Minnow (1-1/4 oz vs 5/8 oz). I found that it does tend to tumble in the air compared to the LC (note: using a tactical angler clip), but not every time like seems to happen with a Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow. I showed a picture of the fish to my mom the next day and she made it clear that if I catch another keeper, I'm to bring it to her rather than release it. Haha.
  5. Landed this one this morning. Thought about keeping it for a moment, but released it. Caught using an X-Rap Long Cast Shallow (4-3/4") in Blue Sardine. Apologies for the offset photo. Both my brother and I had wet fingers and thought we had taken a multiple (centered) pics with my cell phone but it turned out that only one finger press actually registered. D'oh!
  6. Went from the surf yesterday with my brother and one of his buddies. Almost 5 hours, tried LC Flash Minnow, sand crabs, 3 sandworm colors, 7 colors of Big Hammer and Kalin's grubs (with and without Smelly Jelly and Pro Cure), and got one nibble and one strike. At least the strike resulted in a striper, though it wasn't a keeper. Got it on a big soft shell sand crab.
  7. Thanks! Oh, I made sure to get her back in the water as fast as I could and was happy to see her zip away. I finally remembered to keep both my old cellphone (use just for pictures) and the tape measure in the chest pocket of my waders, so that definitely helped as I didn't have to walk all the way to my backpack. I'm also glad that I had replaced the front and middle trebles with single hooks as that may have saved me time as well. I got a ~12" male about 5 minutes later. In both instances, I got a strike on the cast immediately preceding the ones when I hooked up and those were the only 4 strikes I got on the LC. The only other fish I landed was a medium-sized male barred on a red Gulp sandworm, some 2 hours later. My brother tried to lookup the record while we were still down on the beach, but couldn't get signal. I searched when we got back to the truck and I don't know if it's official, but I came up with 18" and 4 1/2 lbs.
  8. Got my PB barred perch this morning. Would've liked to have known the weight, but we didn't have a scale.
  9. Nice pic, Albycor. Based on the resorts in the background, I'm going to say that's the Kahana area. My mom, who is from Lahaina, and one of my brothers are on Maui right now, over on the Kihei side.
