Wondering what brand braid you guys recommend for trolling from a kayak? I normally use PP, but thinking about trying something else. There are a lot of options out there now days and I think many have stepped up their quality. Looking for be around 25-30#. I guess I could go thinner since the line always rates higher, but I for some reason like that piece of mind going a little higher than I need to. Chasing Stripers with my kayak, if that helps any.

Looking to get deep this winterand troll some weight. I'd say up to 12 oz Max maybe down to 8oz or so... Whatever. Anyway im looking for a rod that has good backbone, that doesn't double over easily when being trolled etc. I don't want to spend much around 100 or less, cheaper is always better too. It's just trolling, so I don't need sensitivity... Oh around 6'6" - 7'0" and needs to be conventional

Question for you guys: When Im done and back home from fishing.. I was told to just turn on the hose outside and rise off the reel for a few seconds to help wash out the saltwater.. Is this true? Reason Im asking is that I saw someone online and they were like no dont do that this and that.. Use a spray bottle and just mist the reel some. lol. doesnt seem like that would be enough to dilute the saltwater that is there and mostly dried somewhat... -

Thanks. Yes. I have the inshore series. I'm trolling jugs but dropping them deep using a sea striker #1 to get them deep -
Need kayak light tackle trolling rods

Thanks. I have all associated safety gear. Those rods aren't stiff enough to pull that mini planer. I have terramar rods now in MH and they bend quite a bit -
Looking to upgrade my current outback. I was going to jump to the new outbavk, but I may get a used pro angler instead. How much slower is the PA? Harder to troll with? What about having to lift it/carry it. Is it a lot heavier? Pros/cons? Looks like there wasn't any real updates on the PA like the Outback got this year. The outback is like a mini PA to some extent Thanks

I have two Abu c3 6500 reels that I want to outfit with new rods for the kayak. I want to use these for going deep, so I'd like to have a heavier rod. I don't like how a med hvy doubles over when pulling a sea striker #1. So I may need something more stout. Thia is going to be used 99% of the time on stripers . The fish we catch around here arent that big, so I don't need a broom stick, but I need something that's still stout. Make sense? I would be using these for trolling only, and in up to 60' of water max. I know there are companies out there that are online only and there are deals to be had. Thanks guys!

This is true. Anything else wouldn't need to be needed accessable IMO. you're right

This so true ... They don't allow dealers to run promotions ever.

Man... With these issues and what not lately with Hobie, it makes me a little reluctant to buy a new 2019 model. I was going to upgrade mine but...

Interesting...

Im thinking about making something to use a side mounted transducer for a Humminbird or Lowrance transducer. I was wondering how many do it, does it work well ( with the wake or water coming off the hull ), does it distort the DS and SS or in general at all? I have a hull mounted ( inside ) transducer now, but I want to get the down scan and side image I think... Seems like the technology is there for the most part. If so, how did you mount it, I plan on mounting it on a Hobie Outback. Thanks guys!

looking for some rods to pair up with BG2500 reels. I'll be trolling most of the time but might throw some top water here and there. Any suggestions around 50-120 MAX price point? I was thinking aout the AirdX from Diawa, maybe the goto Berkley shock rods, possibly Teramar ( I know one extreme to another ). What about rod power, I was thinking M but starting to think I might need to go to MH for lure weight.

Should I be worried about buying a Hobie
NattyBoh74 replied to wjbender's topic in Kayaking and Kayak Fishing Forum
I'm new here and I myself may have this issue, but I doubt they're doing it on purpose or allowing it to fester. I think it's the turbo fins honestly. That extra torque has to transfer somewhere... -

I'm thinking I have a drive leak, I though it was water coming in through the hatches etc, but I added weather stripping , cleaned and lubed o-rings etc but still wet... What kind of checks can I do to check for cracks, thin spots, splits etc ... This has me worried bad now. I bought a Hobie because the reliability I thought I was getting... I've only had it a few years, can't remember exactly. I'm reading here there are thing spots, cracks, pin holes.... Gees!
