  1. Yeah, you're right, the pinion bearing is the culprit. When replacing a bearing, can you use any ball bearing that fits the dimensions or are the ball bearings meant for fishing reels different? There are packs of 8 ball bearings on amazon for $10 that are the right dimensions and the shimano made replacement bearing is around $13. Thanks for your insight.
  2. Hello, I have a Shimano Curado K that's retrieval has recently gone rough. I took it apart and found the underside of the main gear to have corrosion on it along with some corrosion on the pinion gear. It's also worth to note that the reel is only rough when the spool is in which leads to me to think that the pinion gear is the source because the spool shaft is not bent. I attached pictures of both the main and pinion gear corrosion. Can this corrosion be removed or should I just order new parts? This reel will most likely only see freshwater from now on as well. Thanks for your help.
  3. Do you think the stradic fl 5000 is a good all round size for freshwater, inshore, and lighter offshore or should I go smaller?
  4. I'll keep a lookout at the spinfisher 6 for a good deal. In the mean time, have you tried the Penn Fierce 3 live liner? I wonder how they compare.
  5. I've heard about the cheaper okuma baitrunners mechanism breaking. Do you have experience with one of them? Thanks for the reply.
  6. Hi, I'm looking for a 4000-5000 size reel that will be used primarily for bait fishing in freshwater for catfish/carp and saltwater in Florida. I'd like the price for the reel to be no more than $150. Thanks for any suggestions.
  7. I'm looking for a baitrunner style reel and found this one online but I can't find any reviews on it. Does anyone have one or has used one? I've also been looking at the Shimano Baitrunner OC but I keep coming back to this one because of the cheaper price and it looks pretty good on paper.
  8. After fishing with it in high winds, I didn't get any wind knots and the line set pretty well. Looks all good now.
  9. I added one shim and it was definitely heavy toward the bottom after adding it so I took it off because it looks better this way but still not perfect. Maybe I put it on wrong?
  10. this is a daiwa fuego lt 2500 spooled with 10 lb braid with no added washers.
  11. Like the title states, what is the difference in the Daiwa Fuego LT and Exceler LT? I know the fuego is magsealed but is that the only difference?
  12. I want a 2500 size reel and the slammer does not come in a 2500.
  13. I have a BG 4000 and it has gotten very rough which is why I want a reel with sealing or in the fuego, magsealed.
  14. I think the back bay is out of my price range I'm looking for a $100-120 reel. The spinfisher 2500 is $120 on amazon but the one I got is defective. The fuego is $80 and I was wondering if I should get another spinfisher or fuego.
  15. I am using a St Croix Triumph 7' M rod and I will be targeting snook, redfish, seatrout, small jacks, bass and other inshore fish I'd happen to hook into
