  1. Took advantage of the holiday and made my way down moco out front starting at 5:30 to now. Sporadic happy bunker pods but nothing on em or at least nothing that wanted what I was throwing. Also saw rain fish, minnows and a ton of sand flea sheds so not due to lack of bait. Beautiful day though, not too many mid 60s and sunny days left.
  2. 6:30-8:30 out front moco. E Wind hawking and the ocean was a washing machine. Tough tide and tough to keep contact but felt fishy out there. The skunk is back once again
  3. 5:30-9 out front moco, trying to shake the skunk. Strong NE wind before the sun came up and big water on the incoming, made it difficult to present and stay in contact. The rubber shad held the best and wound up shaking the skunk w one chunky schoolie. Felt good to have a bend in the pole again but was hoping for something mid 20 lbs and not mind 20”. Birds working out of casting distance, dive bombing away but they never came in. I’ll try the dropping tide and see if that’s any better
  4. Oh forgot to thank @Sudsy for posting the beach replenishment expansion protest today at 11:30. Couldn’t take off work but otherwise I’d be there. if you’re like me and bookmark the reports page without checking the main page, this is the link to Sud’s post.
  5. N moco 6:30-8:30. Light W wind, glassy surf. Walked up to a few peanut bunker pushed on the beach by a wave, thought I was going have a great morning but nada. Not even a hit. Threw the bag and couldn’t by any interest. Saw one tiny blowup, prob a snapper blue. Thought with the moon and tide I’d have a great AM. Oh well, give it shot again tomorrow
  6. Sorry Gents, first time able to go out since Spring and I’m pretty sure that’s what’s shutting down the bite. Yesterday moco outfront, 4-7:30. plenty of albie hunters but didn’t see one bent rod. Met a nice guy named JB who hooked up the black fly repellent and gave me an education on gear specific to albie fishing. Maybe because I never hooked one but I feel like the only guy who doesn’t care haha give me a good sized bass. Plenty of rain fish in the wash getting pushed onto the sand by waves but nothing on them or under them other than birds. Threw the bag, got popped at the lip on a little neck bottle popper but prob a snapper blue, it was a small hit. late report from Friday, first time night fishing in forever. Had to get my night senses back, there was a lot of rust. Nothing like undoing 3 wind knots in the pitch black. Just felt like the Dead Sea out there but figured it was my dues to the fishing gods for missing so much time. Will try again this early evening.
  7. Yeah it’s a great point. I’m just letting nostalgia get the best of me when things were more “free” in general and there was less oversight/over reach by govt and municipalities. But I appreciate all the insight from everyone on this site as always
  8. Thanks @fishless that’s a good point. The equal concern is them setting up lifeguard stands south of little Monmouth and now saying you have to pay because they put resources there. I’m not sure if my thought process is accurate but if they can do that, what’s to stop them from doing the same north of big Monmouth? my whole point is as NJ residents, were already paying for the beach - carve out your section as a town to monetize but leave an equal amount free for public access. I’ve done countless beach cleanups at central - it sucks that out of towners treat it like crap but it’s a locals beach and we’ll take care of it. Too much greed and govt control
  9. I wish I was a lawyer so I could understand all this legalize, deeds, etc. Deal is a perfect example of a town consistently trying to claw back beach access and it sets a template for other “beach” towns. The issue is that tax payers are subsidizing businesses and personal investments yet being restricted from what they pay for. ive got half a mind to rent a few academy buses and advertise free trips to the beach from areas im sure Mb would consider “undesirable” - stop at Andy Ks in SB so they can buy their provisions there - and then have a drop off in the MB Andy Ks lot, March these people through town and to the beach a few weekends this summer. when someone does something screwed up to stop an outcome they desire, I’m strongly motivated to increase their negative outcome 10 fold. Infuriating
  10. @Sudsy good question, I only know of the area south of little Monmouth. They extended the lifeguard stands down the beach and now you need a badge to access. Before, you could walk on and stay south of LM without an issue but now they have badge checkers up and down the beach. I tried reading through the public doctrine but it’s tough to decipher what towns are and are not allowed to do. But between this and the cultural center, it feels like a land grab
  11. So apparently a new mayor in Monmouth beach and they shut down public access off little Monmouth. You need a badge or you have to go to the left of Big Monmouth. @Sudsy for the access rights, is there a minimum % of waterfront that these towns have to keep public?
  12. Thanks for fighting the good fight @Sudsy!! If we can do anything to help, just let us know what to do. I’ve been going to central since my best friend moved to Monmouth beach in ‘97 when we were kids...even when there was no beach at high tide. they put no parking signs on both sides of the road by the channel club there citing a private road. I guess they pay someone privately to pave and plow it? the influx of out of towner’s sucks but to everyone’s point, it’s our tax dollars - not just Monmouth beaches, or any beach town for that matter, that funds replenishment. no parking signs and all the private access stairs on the rock wall are infuriating
  13. 2:30-now outback. Conditions were good, consistent NE wind but very manageable. Water clarity was good and saw small bait fish jumping over floating sticks but nothing doing. Was hoping the sun would have warmed up the flats for the outgoing and stir things up after this cold snap but not yet. @Baccigalup that’s crazy we’re in the same town up there. PM coming
