  1. OK so we were out on Block Island and the rumor was the first wave of fish came in 9-20 and we did see some fish and had some shots on both Saturday and Sunday but they were very few and far between.
  2. Have Albies made an appearance on Block Island yet ?
  3. Fly Fishing Albie Addicts, Opinions on fly rod for Albies ? Thanx, Kent in NH
  4. Super duper new guy here that has had some success this year thanks to this forum and my local fly shop advice. I agree with the post that said find a fly/lure that you have confidence in and just keep casting.... As a long time fly fisherman but short time albie fisherman the concept of presentation is more important than imitation seems to hold true for me... That said of course you need to be close to what they are eating from an imitation standpoint but from where I sit it seems that presentation...or rather the continued and repetitive presentation of your fly/lure is what leads to success. It never fails for me as soon as I strip in to change flies the fish bust right in front of me and are gone before I can blink. Thanks to all for your help and good luck ! Kent in NH
  5. Hello main forum team noting I also posted this on the RI Forum ! My first year chasing Albies with the fly rod....I now understand why this is so addicting....so far a successful trip to the west wall on 10-7 (two great fish) and a not so successful trip to Block Island September 23-24 (many fish seen but no hook ups)... Question is and understanding October 21st is two weeks away...do Albies usually stick around Block Island that long ? I am assuming they will have left Martha's Vineyard by then... Thank you. Kent from NH

  7. Always a lurker and now a member I tried to do my homework and I have reviewed the site and combed the newbie posts....that said I have neither the experience nor the group of friends to lean on or go to as my group is a fly fishing group. I would like to take my bother and other friends who aren't into fly fishing and have them hook in to an Albie and experience the fun I do. I thought fly fishing had lots of choices how in the world do you spin guys ever make a decision ? Trying to keep the spend under $300 and seem to have settled on a Penn Battle II and St Croix Mojo 7'6" Medium Heavy rod. Any and all opinions, suggestions and advice are most welcome ! Also where best to purchase ? Thank you, Kernt in NH
