  1. Will this boat be in DE?
  2. Thank you! I I’m gonna book a few trips! I can’t wait to put my rodbuilding skills to the test by a big ol tog!
  3. I’m in search of any good Blackfish captains? Who would you recommend for one to catch some decent tog?
  4. Thanks guys. Anyone have any other recommendations?
  5. Thanks. I might just check him out. What about blackfishing charters? Anyone know which boats put people on big blackfish?
  6. I should have said that I want to fish on boats from both north and South Jersey. I have been fishing south jersey and Delaware all my life. Use to fish with my brother on his boat but he has had 3 kids in the last 5 years so his fishing is limited . So which boats have good success with stripers and blackfish? I used Parker Pete for the past 2 years and had really great trips. Have another one in late November with him also. I wanna get on something new tho.
  7. I’m looking to set up some fall striper and blackfish trips and would appreciate if anyone could point me towards a good boat? I have been using the same boat and want to switch it up a little.
  8. I got some new shade packs after the NERBs gathering the past 2 weeks. I couldn’t figure out what colors to even begin with. I went from like 5 colors to 25 colors over 14 days. I tried using a color wheel. Started reading about contrasting colors, complementary colors, and analogous colors. I knew from the 3rd, 4th and 5th pass that I was gonna cut this wrap off bc the colors just didn’t catch my eye. They blended in instead of standing out. My curiosity got me to keep going and “just make another pass”, thinking maybe I’ll like this after the pattern starts to show itself. The pattern is a spaced star with a flare and I added a extra box out. I was going for a look that I didn’t even know what it looked like. I mean I did my taper offset spacing and only put 5 center marks. From that point I put threads down and checked one or two times to see if they were close to where I needed them to be for a 8 pass star pattern. I’m actually proud of the wrap that I kept it reasonably straight and the spacing was actually pretty good I think.(I won’t do it again tho! I’ll put my marks on the blank this time.) so I’m almost finished the wrap and I’m gonna cut it off and my question is, When do you cut your wrap off? Do you not think twice and start over? Try and hope you’ll like it in the end so you keep chugging along? Me, I’ll never second guess myself again when it comes to starting a wrap over. Let me know what you would
  9. I cut three pieces of this and tuck them to the inside of the jaws. It’s 3m Safety-Walk. It’s rubberized and sticks very well... so far...
  10. Thanks guys. I had no idea that I should of put tape on the blank. Lesson learned!
  11. I think I’m just gonna put one of those reverse Fuji guides that people use for surf fishing. I’m gonna do a lot of testing once I duct tape these rods together. As a extra step of precaution I’m gonna wrap the entire ferrule and the reverse guide with paracord. It’s not for aesthetics, it’s to give me piece of mind. I will be sick if my new prototype goes flying off the headboard that I’ll be fishing on! Thanks for all the help fellas! You guys got me going in the right direction now!!!
  12. Has anyone had a problem with the jaws on their chuck coming loose? It’s happening more frequently now. I just bought a rod geeks blank and the chuck kept coming loose, so after that happened about 4 times I cranked down on the chuck and I heard a cracking noise. Just so happened to be that my chuck crushed about 3/4”s of the butt. I will usually use 2 nail punches to tighten the chuck, or I’ll hold the jaws and thigh ten with one nail punch. My third way is I lock the headstock and use a nail punch to tighten the jaws. I just don’t get how these blanks can fly out of the jaws if I don’t use hulk strength to tighten them. anyone else have this happen?
  13. Double foot strippers? Or should I use single foots? I’m torn between both
  14. I’ll be there with my new cross country casting rod!
