  1. Thanks Steve. I'm trying to copy a dressing that they use to serve in the old El Moracco in Worcester. I think I have the basic idea, just thought I'd ask you guys.
  2. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a mint dressing?
  3. WOW, I can't beleive all of the great replies I got from what I thought was just a simple question. I would like to thank all of you for your help. I'm sorry I could'nt get any replies in earlier, I was away. I just want to clear things up. When I wrote my original post I don't think I was clear enough about what I was trying to convey about distance. I'm just an average fisherman and I have no intentions of making competition length casts. I'm just mainly looking for something that will get me out into the water without having to break my back trying or my wallet. Looking back at the 50+ posts I think I have a pretty good idea of which direction to go. Again, I thank all of you for your generous supply of info. The Fishing Pole
  4. I don't have anything for distance. Most of my gear is yard sale, flea market finds. I am trying to update all my stuff slowly ($$$) and was thinking of trying to get a setup for some distance. I'm not looking to spend a fortune just a decent set-up. If you, Jce or anyone else can offer up some options I could look into over the winter that would be great. Thanks
  5. Hi, I was just wondering what you all would recommend for distance casting with a spinning setup. Most of my fishing is done from the beach, C.C. Canal and jetties. Thanks
  6. Can't find much about it in the search. thanks
  7. I have a popper and a bomber imitation started. It's kind of a little project I have going with my 9yr old son. He's really enjoying it. Me too. I'll try to post a picture of what I have done so far.
  8. How about a jointed tail section. Great work.
  9. Thanks for all your replies. I think I have a pretty good idea on what I should use now. But what the hell am I going to do with all these bananas? Thanks Again. TFP
  10. If you didn't have any Lineseed oil. What would your second alternative be for sealing plugs?
  11. TimS, I would just like to add to Bigrock's post. I have to say that this is the most enjoyable, entertaining and informative forum I have ever been on to date. I have yet to build my first plug but I feel like I have learned a ton reading the posts here. The people on this site have been more than willing to answer any of my questions and some to great lengths. I thank you all and maybe I will have the pleasure to meet some of you at the ditch. Keep up the great work. The Fishing Pole
  12. "Never understood how a fisherman could do that to another fishman." I wouldn't go so far as calling them fishermen. There's another name for them, but they won't let me right it here.
  13. Nice job Moby. I'm jealous. I'm still working on clearing a spot out in my cellar so I can start this addictive hobby.
  14. I'm not to sure about the logistics of running a website but with 60 something thousand posts on just lure building maybe creating this FAQ's book or file wouldn't be such a bad idea. This way some of the posts that have no information whatsoever could be removed to possibly help to speed up this forum.
  15. Subscribe to that magazine. You know the one. I'm sure when they get a hold of the story they'll tell you everything you need to know.
  16. Also. Do you have any recommendations for resteurants in the area?
  17. I'm headin to OOB with the wife tomorrow. Are they still around?
  18. My son plays hockey and I am always cutting down sticks for him. I have bunch of the butt ends of sticks laying around. They look like they might be good for carving out something. I don't know, I'm just a rookie at this. Just curious as to what everyone else thinks.
  19. What's the proper proceedure? and also if you do catch fish early in your day or night of fishing and you plan on staying longer would you also gut them. What do you all do? I was just wondering because over the weekend I saw someone catch a nice 34" striper and after removing the fish from the jig he continued to fish for at least an hour or more with the fish laying on the sand. All he did was cover it.
  20. Thanks Guys. I will consider all of your advice. Hoping to be out there some time around 4:00am. Somewhere on the canal.
  21. Ok guys. I would like a quick lesson on using slugos in the canal. I'm heading out there Saturday morning with my son. How should I fish them? Rig them? I read one post about using a 3-way swivel with a weight. What do you think? What else would you recommend using. Also. Without giving away any secrets. Where would you recommend I take a 9 year old for his 1st excursion to the canal. Are there any places that might be a little more kid friendly than the rocks? I'd like to make this a good experience for him. He's been bugging me all summer.
  22. I like to mix some hot sauce into the melted butter then pour it all over the PC.
  23. I think to me I'd rather make something unique to me and then share what I learned to others rather than make something the way someone else made it. It's more rewarding that way. Nothing wrong with this board and I'm a newbie. There is a wealth of info here to help you along your way. You just need to take some time and research it. And if you can't find it just ask.
