  1. If I ever have to protect the homestead, I'll be ready with my new to me Charles Daley by Lindner 8 gauge SXS with 4 inch chambers. Reminds of the scene in the movie "Tremors". I have a dozen brass shells and 100 Remington industrial shells headed my way that will need to be re-sized.
  2. Here are some shots of the forearms and stock.
  3. She's done, shipped from Griffin & Howe a few weeks ago. Been fondling her ever since. Took over 8 years start to finish, was really hard to be patient but worth the wait. 16 gauge 2 barrel set, Fox Special. Started by Dan Rossiter for me before he joined G&H, finished in their custom shop by him a few weeks ago.
  4. Took it out today outside of Salem, NJ. The woodcock were in there thick today.
  5. This gun does have the original (I think) owners name and town engraved on the left side. I like it. I think it adds character. It's cool to have a little history even though i tried but could not find anything about the guy.
  6. From what I've read, they were only a custom shop deal after WW2. Before the war, starting about 1931, they were making a few thousand a year. One of the things I liked about it was that it had short barrels (26 inch) and open chokes.
  7. Unexpected Christmas present to myself that I fell into at my local gun store. Early (1933) Winchester model 21.
  8. Nothing new to show as far as gun porn but I did upgrade my man cave this fall. We demo'd a large law firm space and I pulled 11 cabinets out of the law library out and put them aside for myself. Makes a real nice place to grab a drink and go hide and fondle the shotties.
  9. I had a Spanish made 28 SXS years ago that I never shot well. I sold it off years ago and never really missed it and shot my 20 gauge Foxes and Smiths as well the 16's I had. One day I ran into a guy who had to sell some guns quick and picked his 28 gauge SKB 385 (26 inch, IC/Mod) out of the bunch and it felt right. I try to use it at least once a year for rabbits or woodcock. I think I'm gonna hold onto that one, It fits me a lot better than that old Spanish gun. I think the Spanish gun weighed about 5 lbs. 10 oz. and that was part of the problem. I'm 6'3" 230 lbs and that gun was just too whippy. The SKB weighs about 6 1/2 lbs with some barrel forward weight which I like.
  10. Savage bought Fox and continued making them for a while, then made last runs using up parts on hand and finally with flat sided receivers (cost reduction) and then with a version called the SPE which had a blued receiver. Shortly thereafter Savage started making the 311 and BSE line which do not use any original Fox parts at all and have none of the handling qualities of an original Fox.
  11. It definitely is a Fox Sterlingworth, The thumb lever looks Savage era but the buttstock screams Philadelphia. Probably an early Savage era but the barrels could also be Philadelphia. What does the barrel address say?
  12. Restored 16 gauge Crown grade LC Smith. Going for woodcock tomorrow with it.
