  1. I’m with you on that, I’ll probably use it to fish the Hammo River and Indian River estuaries etc.
  2. I’m in Eastern LIS In CT and have been river fishing with my crawdad quite a bit. I just stumbled onto a 3.5 four stroke Merq that I’m planning to do some solo drifting with in the sound on calm days. what’s everyone think ??
  3. Awesome job ! I can’t wait until my new rod shows up so I can get out and hopefully get some fish on the banks !
  4. Nice setup and fish ! That looks like Harknes ??
  5. I ended up going with a 10 ft Tsunami trophy 2 MH itS rated @ 1-5oz throw weight so hopefully that will cover a broad spectrum of tackle also it will be mated to a BG5000 Daiwa spooled with 30Lb Power Pro. I have many other Tsunami rods and I am very happy with all of them as of now so I’m hoping nothing changes there.... thank you for all the input from everyone.
  6. I agree, I Facebook messaged them a couple questions and there response was a link to there catalog. Customer service is important !!
  7. I read allot of 50/50 reviews on the trophy series. Allot of love/hate there. I have a few of there boat rods and have hauled countless Fluke, Porgy and sea bass. As well as massive blues and Striper on a 7’ trophy spin setup. No issues with quality....
  8. I was originally set on a 10’ Trophy 2 MH. I think I’ll order one up tonight if Rivers end doesn’t have one
  9. I know Joe and the guys. I was in there a week or so ago and they don’t have anything in my price range, they have to order it. I’m 100% a supporter of buying local but most local shops don’t have what I’m looking for. I hate to say this but Walmart stocks the 10/11 foot penn surf rods ...... I’m still uncertain as to if they are worth spending 100$ on but at that price you get what you pay for....
  10. Cool I’ll look into your suggestion ! Thanks !
  11. So I recently sold my boat and I have countless dollars invested into boat rods reels and the like. I am looking to start my surf casting endeavor and I want to get a cheaper budget rod to start with to see if I A. enjoy it and B. Can find the time to get out often with an 19 month old son. So I’m looking for suggestions on what rod length and action I should start with. I’ll be throwing Lil Doc spooks, pencils and plugs, as well as plastic eels and smaller live eels etc. 2-5 ounce range. Pretty much the gambit will be required. In addition I have a few 5000 series reels kicking around, Daiwa BG5000, Daiwa Emcast sport 5500 and a Penn Fierce 2 5000. All running 30 pound power pro. I believe the Emcast has 25lb Suffix camo on it...... Im located in Clinton CT and will be fishing the mouth of the CT River, Hammo Jetti and Hammo River Nd Clinton beach etc. What sub 150$ rod should I start with ??? Thanks in advance !
  12. Im looking at purchasing a BG 4500 or BG5000 and I was wondering what is the main difference in size, and weight. This is a budget setup that will be coupled to a 7.0' MH Ugly Stick Intercoastal Rod. It will be used on and off the boat. I dont have a ton of money to invest into a new rig so at sub 200$ Rod Reel and braid I figure why not. Ill be hunting schoolies all the way up to 25-30lb Striper and smaller blues with this rig. Which reel should I go with and why ? 4500 or 5000 ?? Thanks Guys !
