  4. wondering if anyone has any experience with how the shiny black powder coat holds up over time? i have several reels that i would like to restore before giving them to the grand kids. also wonder if anyone sent them back to penn for repainting?
  5. Yup,440ss and 950ss, heard of them but never saw one. Sortta likethe holy grail.
  6. Yes someone said it has the same body style as 420ss,430ss, 450ss. When i look i my reals the 450ss body is different from the 420ss & 430ss. I'm wondering what the 440ss body style in the all metal version looks like and if it exists? Also wondering if a 950ss metal exists?
  7. THANK'S for the info. Going to pick up some carb cleaner and give it a shot.
  8. You got me off the couch. i'm looking at my 420ss,430ss and 450ss. See similarities with the 420 and 430. The 450 more closely resembles the 550,650 and so on. Am i missing something?
  9. I've been thinking of removing the shield from one side of the bearing. My belief is that i will be able to clean them with wd-40 and then pack them with grease.Wondering if anybody has tried this? Hoping to hear thoughts and experiences on this. THANK YOU!!
  10. Thanks, I've been talking to some rod builders that don't seem to be very knowledgeable, their idea is decide the weight you want to launch for the blank. i'm fine with that, after that they hand me a book of guides and say pick out what you want. That's where i hit the wall, they don't want to see the reel or ask about it. Seems to me if someone is building a rod they would want to know about the reel. Thanks guys guess i'll keep trying.
  11. anybody know where i can find info on sizing a rod to a spinning reel? Or vice versa. THANK YOU!
  12. Picked up a tsunami 12 footer last spring,go back and forth with 450ss or 550ss. 30 lb.braid. very happy.
