  1. Seeing pics of fish caught in non-Delmarva waters confuses me and gives me false hope.
  2. Really not many specks or flounder around anymore. I haven't caught a speck in the Pax since 2008 and haven't caught a flounder there since like 2010.
  3. There's plenty of lures you could cast for stripers along the rocks, though you probably won't get much of anything big enough to keep. Night fishing for croaker is good if that's your kind of thing. They love shrimp, but even the fishbites bloodworms can do well. It probably won't be as fun as bass fishing though because there isn't much to it other than casting out a line and just sitting around in the dark. But if it's meat you want, croaker taste good. If we have a dry summer you'll probably catch kingfish too. At PLO you'll probably run into seatrout and little redfish too small to keep.
  4. The most insane drivers I have ever encountered I've encountered on Route 13 in Delaware. People swerving through traffic, changing lanes between other cars with literally an inch to spare, people driving at night when it's completely dark without headlights on, it goes on and on.
  5. There aren't too many blues. I'm thinking we're seeing the right amount of blues and just not enough stripers. (And as far as other species go, I heard some nice weakfish were caught at the OC inlet recently. That's a fish that I would love to see bounce back. I've only caught one keeper weakie in 10 years.)
  6. Seeing all kinds of posts on other sites of amazing speck catches this year... and I only seem to find stripers.
  7. My guess is the economic value of Chesapeake trophy season keeps regulations in the bay from being what they should be.
  8. "Continued enforcement at Fishing Creek Bridge in Dorchester County over the weekend resulted in 13 men being charged and 435 fish being seized. The following men were charged with keeping undersized striped bass, keeping fish over the daily creel limit, fishing in a closed area, and possession of striped bass between midnight and 5 a.m.: Francisco Merlos Guzman, 40, of Lanham; Jose Francisco Gutierrez, 33, of Annapolis; Jose Aristides Viera, 50, of New Carrollton; Miguel A. Alvarenga, 50, of Hyattsville; Marvin Omar Larios Guerra, 43, of Rockville; Mauro Gerardo Canjura Morales, 53, of Brentwood; Erik M. Guerra, 39, of Silver Spring; Luis A. Gonzalez, 28, of Fort Washington; and Yemi J. Flores Flores, 35, of Annapolis. Also, Jose Contreras, 50, Erick Isai Melendez Romero, 37, Victor Omar Membreno Guerara, 25, and Ramon A. Gonzales, 55, all of Silver Spring. All the defendants are scheduled to appear in Dorchester County District Court Aug. 16. The maximum penalty on each count is $1,500." 435!!!!!! This isn't just a few guys having fun and keeping a few fish, it's large scale decimation of the fishery that we care about so much. And that's only the guys that are caught. Believe me, for every one guy caught, there's 20 who aren't. And this happens every weekend and just about every night at this spot! One spot, and despite dozens upon dozens of people being cited, it never even seems to make a dent in the poachers. If anything, more appear every time. (All from the other side of the bridge....)
  9. There are a thousand ways to tell the same story. No human alive can give you 100% objective fact without any bias, be it conscious or unconscious bias. You basically just have to consume a lot of different kinds of media, have an awareness of the angle they are coming at you from, and make your own informed opinions from there.
  10. Limited on gear at the moment. What can I realistically do from shore with a 6 ft rod? Should I just drive around Delaware, stopping intermittently and casting metal lures in the surf? Should I expect to see schools of bluefish chasing bait? Would I even be able to cast far enough out to reach fish with that rod length/lure weight limitations? Really don't have much money to spend on a nice rod/reel combo right now. Is this even feasible or am I setting myself up for disappointment? Wondering if I should even try since I'm sure everyone and their grandma's dog will be clogging up the shoreline Saturday.
  11. You find those in the Del, the Mar, or the Va?
  12. Theoretically if it was found that LMB were eating lots of baby stripers and negatively impacting the striped bass population, yes, I 100% would be in favor of killing any LMB caught in the Chesapeake watershed.
  13. Oh I feel soooo bad for those poor, poor ocean front property owners. How will they ever cope?
