  1. Would the Tekota 600 (TEK 600) spooled with 50# braid be sufficient to troll a tandem mojo - max total weight 28 oz. I would think so but others said braid should be 65# braid. I think 50# is appropriate. Thanks in advance.
  2. Looking to get 2 rods to pair up with 113H or an Avet MXL to troll mojo or tandem mojo rigs. I was thinking of the Connley Custom Kingfish 20-50 or 15-50 rods. Any thoughts or alternative considerations. Appreciate the comments in advance.
  3. Penn Warfare looks like a nice reel and price is attractive too.
  4. I have 5 Penn 113H’s and an Avet MX but have some Shimano reels that I really like and would like to get one for trolling. Do you find the 600 versatile, say for jigging with eels - realizing I may need to change rods.
  5. I am looking for a reel to troll mojo rigs ( including tandem ) and was think to get the Tekota 500 or 600 (not newer A model). I would likely use 40 or 50 # braid. Would the reel and like be adequate for the job. What rod would you recommend too. Thanks in advance.
  6. Was looking to get the Tekota 500 to jig for Stripers off of NJ and pair with a travels rod. Is the 500 to big or acceptable for intended use. Thanks in adavance.
  7. Thanks gents. I will be pairing with a proper trolling rod. Appreciate the comments. Wish you all tight lines in the New Year.
  8. Is the attached 113H a High Speed Reel and can I put wire on it for trolling bunker spoons? Thanks in advance. I know some 113H’s say High Speed on them but this one does not.
  9. Thank guys and good luck out there.
  10. No need for wire just use the #40 braided line? Thanks again.
  11. I will be trolling for stripped bass for first time in Raritan Bay for first time using spoons and tandem rigs. I went out a bought 2 - 113h (made in USA) and looking to use wire line. What type of line should I use for backing (braid / mono) and should the leader be? The reels came with 30 or 40 pound braid already on them and wondering if I can just put wire right on top of it or if I need to switch it. Thanks in advance.

  13. Thanks all. Looks like it will be the SX and will start researching and testing some rods. Thanks again and keep the lines tight.
  14. I am debating between the SX, MXJ, MXL to use more from the surf than pier with #30 braid for Stripers, Blues,Drum, and a like. I am leaning towards an MX model as I think I could use when trolling for Stripers but not sure. Is this possible?I would purchase the MC version of the 2nd generation. Thank you in advance. Any rod recommendations?
  15. I am not looking for specific locations of your or looking to violate any protocols of the website. Are there any beaches or areas that people could recommend to surf cast. I know Sandy Hook is good but any other places. I am coming from Union County - fairly new to area. Thanks in advance.
