  1. View PostFished from 8 to 11:30. Very disapointing night considdering the reports of bait everywhere. Covered a pretty good portion of monmouth county. Mainly south and central but one stop to the north. Absolutely no signs of bait. At all. Water was calm enough I should have been able to see if even if fish were't chasing it, I would have been able to see some wiggle as my plug went through it. Bait was non existent where I was or it was at the end of my cast where I could not see and nothing was harassing it. If I fished that tide again again on a west which made it even lower, I think I would have spent more time north and less time south. I would start at last nights northern most point and work north. Definately seemed to be thicker water to the north at the lower tide. South was extremely skinny for a long ways out. Haven't been out in a while, still getting re-aquanted with the lay of the land.

  2. Thank you everyone, I will pass this information onto my friend. I appreciate all your help.

I wish I new about the 2 layers being not such a great idea. I had my roof done about 9 years ago by a local company that's been in business for about 30 years. They gave me a 10year warranty on labor and 25 on shingles. My roof looked good from day 1, but it started to leak near one of the valley's about 1 year later. The company came right over and tried to fix it by putting in a new liner down the valley and it didn't work. Turned out once we used a garden hose on the roof that it was actually a nail that popped about 10ft from the valley. It's been good for about 8 years now, but what a pain in the butt trying to figure that leak out, They probably came over 3-4 times before they found it. If I was to do it all again, I'd have piad the extra $1500 and have the first layer ripped off and start from scratch. Hopefully the roof I have lasts another 10 years. Only time will tell, but I'm happy with the job now. It still looks great to me. I didn't have any of the cosmetic wavy stuff like my friend has. Different companies also.

Thanks again for all your insight.

  3. Co-worker of mine had a second layer of shingles added about 3 weeks ago and has noticed a wavy appearance that isn't to his liking. I told him to take a few pics and I'd ask you guys what you thought. He approached his roofer and was told it's going to lay down flat with time. He did offer to cut back the 1st layer to the facia, but said it would void his warranty. To me it looks like he could have done a better job laying the shingles out to see which ones looked the best and contoured the roof line the best. I think he was in a rush. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems that way.

What do you think?? Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

  4. Just wanted to Thank Steven and you guys for this info. I ended up leveling out my 2001 Silverado 1500, and I couldn't be happier. I think I picked up close to 3" in the front and about 1.5" in the rear. The front was done with torsion keys, and the rear was done with 3" replacement blocks that replaced the 2" ones from GM. I went with readyLift products. An alignment was needed also. I asked the tech to set my tires at 0, without any tow in. I did this back in the fall of 2009. Great upgrade.

here is a before and after pic.

    Thanks again

  5. I use Starting batteries that have 1060 CC amps.

I charge mine on conventional, Not on deep cycle.

99% of the time I charge them on the 10amp quick charge setting. Over the winter I use the 2amp slow charge once a month while they are sitting on the workbench inside the basement.

I was under the assumption that the deep cycle charge setting is for a deep cycle battery, not a conventional or starting battery.

  6. I remember my parents taking me to the Eatontown Drive in the late 70's- early 80's. I'm pretty sure we saw Star Wars, ET, Star Trek, Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark. I remember them usually showing a double feature, and the second movie was usually scary of had some questionable content for a grammar school kid. I was just laughing with my Dad about a movie we saw their called The Nude Bomb. LOL! I remember a showing of War of the Worlds, The Blob, and Jaws. I loved the drive in. They had a playground for us kids right under the big screen and the concession stand had the best tasting hotdogs and popcorn. I remember the hotdogs being wrapped in foil and they had a unique smell about them. Aaaah memories. Anyway....It's been knocked down and turned into single family homes and town homes for probably over 20 years now. I wish I had some pictures to remember it by. I remember many weekends we would go to dinner at the Ground Round outside the Monmouth Mall, and end up at the Eatontown drive-in. I miss both of those places.
  7. I wanted one real bad, but the $$$ was just too much when I was shopping. I ended up with a used Hydra Sports Vector CC. Used 23 Regs back 4 years were still in the 45-60k range in NJ. I test drove a couple, Fell in love, and then decided to wait until maybe my next boat in 7-10 years. They ride amazing in the ocean even on a nasty NE or SE wind. I always admire them when I see one.

  8. Hey Guys, thanks for the interest. I've had this reel for almost a year, I may still have it in a few months, if it doesn't sell right away, hit me up in the future. I'm going to sell a Penn 550SG reel and a used Penn 965 with power handle. I just need to take some pics. My price may drop as time goes on also. I'm trying to fund the purchase of a new amp for my music interests, so I'm not looking for any trades right now. Thanks again.

  9. I purchased this a while back and never used it. It's still in the Penn reel bag and box the way I bought it. I'm looking for $200. I figure that's a fair price since they are closer to $300 in the store. It's has 300+ yards of mono on it. I'm calling it "New" because it's never been installed on a rod, casted or seen the water. I thought I needed it, but it turns out that the Penn 965 with a power handle is a better fit for me. The drag on this 975 LD is super strong.

If you want to meet up somewhere near the 07712 zipcode I can do that. Otherwise I don't mind shipping it, You pay the actual shipping cost. I'm fine with paypal, money order, cash. Thanks for looking.

  10. a 24' Hydra Sports VECTOR series is a kick a** boat. You should take a ride on a sloppy day in the ocean. You will be impressed. I have a 22.5' Hydra Sports VECTOR series CC with a single 200hp, and I LOVE it. Rides Great in snotty chop. I wish I could have afforded the 23' or 24' at the time, but mine is suiting my needs perfectly.

I have seen the 25' Hydra Sports VECTOR series CC with dual 200's so I would think you're fine. Check the capacity plate on the helm, it will tell you for sure. Good luck with it if you got this route. Go for a ride on one, that will seal the deal for you.

  11. I'm towing 5700 lbs of boat + trailer with a 2001 1500 Silverado 5.3 v8, 4.10 rear 4x4. I haven't gone more than an hour in any direction, but this is my second boat trailer combo I've had since I bought the truck back in 2000. My first trailer had drum brakes on only one of the axles, and my second new trailer has disc brakes on both axles. I have never felt like the boat was pushing me when I try to stop. Granted, I've always had a controlled stop, Thank God! I have pulled the boat up and down hills but nothing the distances of the other responses. I go maybe 16miles round trip about 20-30 times a year. With the few places I launch, I know I need 4x4 for getting up the slick ramps at low tides. I used to just use the 4x4 high setting, but I think its better on the truck that I use the 4x4 low setting on some of the steep slippery grades. 4x4 LOW is really impressive when it comes to towing something under 5mph. Tremendous Torch.
  12. Your alignment may need adjustment after you raise the nose up. Mine did. I went one step past turning the adjustment screw. I swapped out the torsion key for a model that allowed me to lift the front up to 3.5inches. Needless to say, I needed an alignment after that. It's like a whole new truck once you level it off. It does stiffen the ride a bit up front, but I think it's an improvement to be honest. Not sure if it accelerates front end wear of things like ball joints or tie rods, but I'm very happy with the look and feel of the truck now.
  13. Very sorry to hear your loss. God Bless your friend and his family.

I lost a friend back in October who loved to fish with me. He was only 40, and it was unexpected also. It showed me you never know when your time is up. He was just getting into the stripers over the past year, and appreciated every moment on the water. I will miss him.
