  1. No, I don’t need a knife. But a Leathermann multi-tool is very handy and can do a lot more than a knive only. Most fishermen likes knives. Because of the knive itself. Not they really need one. For a trip into the wild, I make an exception.
  2. With euro-nymphing you don’t cast the fly line (you don’t even need a fly line..). You can learn it in 15 minutes. I can give you a lot arguments that it is not fly fishing, IMO. But if you think it is ? Please do and have fun.

  4. I agree, if you use a fly on a fly rod, you can call it “fly fishing”. But some methods are not my cup of tea. I like to cast a fly line in every way and distance to attract the fish to my fly.
  5. I agree. Like trolling with a #14 Wt. line and fly rod. Fishing for blue marlin, sharks, tuna. Fly fishing… LOL.
  6. Euro nymphs contains no bucktail at all. It’s not a streamer…it’s a nymph. (like the picture for example). Google for Czech nymphs.
  7. With euro-nymping you don’t cast a fly line, like fly fishing with a nymph. It’s just tossing your 3 rigged weighted nymphs in front of you, with a 10 or 11 ft. rod and wiggle a little bit with your line and watching at the indicators movement’s. Effective ? Sometimes. Has it something to do with fly fishing ? Absolutely NOT. I can do euro-nymping with a broom stick. Like Tenkara fishing. Fly fishing and casting (!) with one indicator, is completely different. Btw. euro-nymping is in some rivers not allowed in Europe.
  8. Sorry to say, but euronymphing has nothing to do with fly fishing. Nufsaid.
  9. Stainless jaws. Is the set you only need. That's all. I have it for years, without any problems.
  10. What kind of rod and fly line are you using ? For practising, a 5-6 Wt fly rod and line is fine. Heavier fly rods (# 7-8-9) can be difficult for practice and fatigue sets in quickly. The best way to learn fly fishing is that a experience fly fisher teach you how to cast. So he/she can correct you at the time. There a lot of movies to find on YouTube how to cast. But they can't correct you... Tip. You must "feel" the line its coming out your fly rod, with the forward and backcast. Stay practise and don't give up !
  11. Heavy and built like a tank, but if you don't mind that. Go for it. Its a first quality fly reel. But always rins after each fishing trip with warm fresh water and NEVER use WD40 ! (that's the worst you can do with (each) fly reel).
  12. I must say, that it is not easy ! But it gives you a lot advantage if you can do it. Specially on windy day's, when it comes at the "wrong" side. But, to be honest. I cast with my non-dominant hand, only with 3 and 4 fly rods and lines. On heavier lines, I prefer to choose to end my cast, with a backhand-cast., to prevent that the hook landed in my face. With light fly rods and lines, you can cast over your left shoulder (I'm right-handed). for maximum aprox. 12 meters.
  13. Yes, its possible. But a cheap fly rod blank is a far better choice. IMO.
  14. The old Ross Gunnisons are unbeatable.
