  1. I’m confused too. Same poster here. I changed my username years ago, but now it seems to change randomly back with some logins.
  2. Interesting. Really? But when I break off a snag (or a damn seal) it’s the knot at the lure or leader that goes, not the braid.
  3. I’ve got a 7.5” Tidemaster travel rod, rated MH, F It’s distance sweet spot is on the high side of its range, at about 1.5 oz. Used for Albies and Blues mostly, for surf casting. I’m wondering if there are any long-cast reel options for this rod. Penn’s smallest LC is the Spinfisher VI 5500. It looks a bit smallish for a 5500, but I’m thinking it’s just too big for this rod. Or is it? Anyone else making a nice 4500 long caster? Any info much appreciated!
  4. 2oz. Spro bucktail jig. fish was maybe 8 lbs, tops, but I was thrilled.
  5. The big losses can be great stories. My friend hooked a huge striper a few years ago, while fishing for blues with a Ballistic Missile no less. It rolled up of the surface after a little bit and we all got a good look at it. Just monstrous. Definitely 50+. And then a grey seal mugged him, and started carrying the fish down the beach. A lady fishing down there just held her knife up to his line and looked at him. He nodded and she cut it, and he just fell to his knees, slumped over. Then the seal slowly drifts and swims back over towards us, and eats the big bass right in front of him while floating on its back. He was so devastated, but hearing him tell that tale every year is funny as hell.
  6. Dying down now for albies southside, but some biggies are running around Nantucket now, for those of you who can get there this weekend. Just got the biggest one I've ever caught, a 30-incher, on the east end of the island south of Great Point. The guy down the beach from me pulled in a few that were over 25 inches. Good luck!
