  1. Thanks to elcarlstono for posting the fishing report/update from our trip..... Don't forget the additional Keeper Drum (25") I put in the box on Saturday during the good run on Blues. All in all, a good trip. We've done better, we've done worse.
  2. Thanks Billy G. for the report. My group is heading down on Wednesday and hitting the Atlantic ferry Thursday Morning. Let me know if you hear any further updates before then. Thanks Again!!
  3. Thanks guys. I just downloaded Windfinder, FishTimeLite and Marine Weather to my iPhone. I'll just pick the one I like best after playing with them a little. Thanks again!
  4. Ha! Yes, been checking forecasts, fishing reports, and tide charts just about every hour. I'm completely useless at work right now as well. I'm sure my boss will be glad when next week is over. Definitely in the home stretch now, under a week to go. Heading to Harker's Island on Wednesday, then on the Atlantic ferry early Thursday morning. Thanks for the post!

Sounds like a fairly successful 1st trip to Hatteras. It is surely a fun place to be when the fish are biting.
  6. GREAT PICS!! November 5th can't get here soon enough. Hope those Bulls are still hanging around in 2 weeks. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Great report! Hope the are still biting in a month, only a little further south. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Terrible Surf Fishing in MB. You can do ok in the back waters of the ICW. We fish from Kayaks in the flats behind Sunset Beach, NC (about 30 min North of MB) and do pretty well. For Red Drum: red jig head tipped with Gulp Alive 3" shrimp or GA Swimming Mullet For Flounder: double rigged small bucktails tipped with Gulp Swimming Mullet HINT: at low tide, the fish are forced out of the grasses and it can be like shooting fish in a barrel

We caught blues and other panfish in close during the day and we caught 2 big drum (one is in my avatar) and 1 big shark out further at night, but we didnt catch a single puppy drum or flounder the whole trip. When I returned home I read reports of people catching lots of pups and flounder while we were there, so my questions are this... Do you guys usually move around a lot when on PI, or do you typically stay in one spot/area? Do you catch pups and flounder from the surf in the middle parts of the island, or do you usually go to one of the ends/inlets for these? Also, a quick story for GoPack about the sound side. The first time I was at PI, we were down towards the south end (not all the way) and after several hours of fishing the surf without any luck, one of the guys wondered off towards the sound side. He returned 5 minutes later with 2 slot drum that he caught doubled up on a hi-lo rig on his first cast. Thanks Wheeler. I'm assuming you all followed suit and went to his new spot?? I'm usually "that guy" in my group that gets bored if the surf fishing slows down. I have to disappear for a while and hit the sound with light tackle or something to mix it up. I usually take off with a bucktail on one rod and a hi-lo rig on another and 1 sand spike.
  10. Me and my 2 boys love the show. We've been watching the Original, and transitioned easily into the NvS version. We are in NC, but my boys still pull for the Northern guys they've been watching on previous seasons. Marciano & TJ are our favorites. Hard to like much of anything about Prickhead Tyler.
  11. I just picked up an Okuma CSX S-1002MH. This appears to be a good purchase and great value for the money. I got the rod for $109.99 online + 4.95 S&H. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, but it looks and feels great. Can't wait to get out and throw it VERY SOON.
  12. I'll try to post a report on that Sunday night or Monday if there's anything of note to report. Hope I get to write you a book when we get back.
  13. I'm also in Central NC, however, my group is only about 10-12 years into our run of OBX trips. Hope to see you guys out there sometime and learn a few things from some the "greatest generation" of fishermen.
