  1. just saw it. looks sweet. The way he is using it will give a false temp read, looks like only the probe is inserted, which its hottest place other than in the fire itself. The probe has to be in the middle of the grate. Also, I could not tell if you can override the preset temps nor is you can use a high/low range.
  2. I use a maverick ET 732 dual probe wireless. I drilled a grommet hole near the grate through which I pass the probe wires. One in the meat and the other clipped to a grate. You can program each for separate high/warnings and it has decent range so you can go inside. I's come down in price yo about $50 now I also have the four probe blue tooth maverick for the iPhone, really cool, but blue tooth ranged is a total waste.
  3. pellets rule. Petes Yoder is a work of art. restaurant use them more to avoid code headaches. The Fast Eddy commercial versions have eh firebox behind a false wall and not underneath the meat, so they can go under a commercial hood without thousands additional money on a special fire extinguishing set up. Pellets are easily stored without the health code issues of wood which might have insects, fire code issues etc. And they are set it and forget it.
  4. If you are looking, you are not cooking. Butts and shoulders should require very little attention. So long as the pit temp is 220 - 300, leave them be for five hours to set the bark , then foil is you are down that. Then do nothing until they reach 185 and then you can check for doneness every 20 - 30 minutes. I saw earlier post about bone-in v boneless, shoulders, butts etc On a pig, the shoulder is actually the butt. Boston butt, named after the containers they were packed in. It has the shoulder blade and some more tender meat. It comes both bone in and boneless. The shoulder is actually the forearm. I've only seen it with the bone. A picnic is when the butt and shoulder is still in tact. The shoulder won't cook as moist as the butt since the fat isn't as marbled, but who cares after you pull it and add vinegar or a sauce. PS, I don't get too concerned with a team drop when opening, I am more concerned with the subsequent temp spike. Opening the lid causes a rush of air that will stoke the coals.
  5. if the stranger is a pedophile or rapist. You doing mental tests at the door?
  6. I find stove top is nearly impossible to do paella The heat is concentrated in the middle of the pan, where it's more likely to burn the rice and the rice closer to the edge will be uncooked. This is why the weber OTG, BGE, Alkorn etc are great. You get an even heat - although you do need to adjust the heat by closing the lid to reduce the heat to let the rice cook. When I make paella indoors, I'll start on the stop top and finish it in the oven.
  7. yeah, weird that some assume that there daughters are safe with strangers simply because they are the same sex.
  8. Good thing she is no longer involved in politics, doesn't speak at political events and doesn't speak to the press on political matters. Palin on her Bill Nye comments: “We need to keep in mind how important it is for parents to understand this issue and to understand the political agenda behind global warming,” Palin said, according to The Guardian. “It is being used as a fundraiser, it is being used as a partisan issue unfortunately so that parents can be first and foremost in their child’s life and influence them to trust science and believe in science and not leave it to the teachers.” ^^^ she was denying science and a scientist
  9. "Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am," - sarah palin Nye graduated from Cornell University's School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. She's an idiot - and yet her party thought she'd was the best choice for VP a few years ago.
  10. give it a few minutes for someone to morph the thread into bashing liberals
  11. don't sell hum short, he's done a fine job being the big apple's village idiot
  12. not sure what happened there patchy, I quoted Jim's post - have no clue why yours ended up in the post
  13. I'm curious if my 16 yr old has any interest in seeing it, and if yes, what he thought if it. Our conversations have a very limited menu, most being sports and his getting a drivers license
  14. BS and you know it. Don't insult either of us by defending your question that was complete idiocy
  15. yes if you mean that religion does not give a person the right to illegally discriminate. The courts have provided a lot of case history on when it's legal to refuse to serve a group of people. read up on it and it will help you understand the issue.
  16. a little more about the film and the program to play it at schools: The Crisis This is a critical moment, with more refugees today than anytime in the last century. In Syria alone, more than 4.8 million people have fled the country to escape the atrocities of war. Right now, we are at risk of losing a generation of youth, destabilizing the region, and perpetuating a cycle of violence and poverty. The Experience In an effort to better understand refugee life, we spent one month this winter living alongside displaced families in the Za’atari refugee camp. As the first filmmakers ever allowed by the United Nations to be given a tent and registered inside a refugee camp, we were able to get a never before seen look into the world’s most pressing crisis. Our experience uncovered overwhelming trauma but also the untapped potential our uprooted neighbors posses. With the right programs we can support healing, ease the burden on host countries and even empower the disenfranchised by unleashing people’s creativity. The Film and Campaign We’ve completed a feature length film to help tell the stories of our refugee neighbors with the dignity they deserve and the depth the world needs. We hope you’ll join this effort. Together let’s seek understanding instead of accepting stereotypes and take action instead of sitting idly by. What’s your first step? Host a Screening at your school, church or community center to make an impact! Share your email and we’ll randomly pick five people to get a first sneak peak viewing of the film. Donate now. Our friends in the refugee camp are striving everyday to restart their lives. Through our humanitarian partners, even $20 can go a long way in empowering men, women and children through education, psychosocial support and training programs.
  17. Just got this in the email Two American filmmakers produced a documentary film entitled 'Salam Neighbor' http://livingonone.org/salamneighbor/. In this film, they've provided a close look at the world's most dire refugee crisis inside Jordan's Za'atari camp. The filmmakers were the first allowed by the United Nations to register and set up a tent inside a refugee camp, so it provides an incredibly detailed account of the children and families displaced by conflict. This screening is the first event hosted by Save the Children Long Island Student Ambassadors, which is a newly formed group of students from ten Long Island schools. Please support our students and come to see a great film! 6:45 PM tonight (4/13) in the Performing Arts Center at the Jr/Sr High******* *Recommended for children grades 5 and up. A certificate of attendance will be given for community service. Would you let your kids see this? My son is 16. IMO, his choice.
  18. Trump's camp dropped the ball and now has let two states slip by him and into Cruz hand. Typical of Trump, can never accept responsibility for his short comings and has blamed Cruz and the GOP for the losses. I laugh when I hear how great Trump is and how he'll bring this greatness to DC. He should be embarrassed that his camp let Cruz out-manuever them by not paying attention to the details. he's lashing out and blaming others for his own doings. He's a typical republican
  19. just the opposite JimP. I appreciate the twisted logic that went into your post
  20. nice try, but logical fail. Stick with the point where you think molestation is sought to be being protected. Your example is a red herring since in no way doe that bill even suggest that pedophiles would not be subject to the laws of the land.
  21. bigotry is a belief, discrimination is an act. I presume you know this, and are faking ignorance
  22. I make no apologies for defending our constitution, even it mean not making illogical arguments to bash a mooslim
  23. gotcha, I would agree that when you are at the 17-18 years of age, there is no clear delineation that one can unequivocally say it's rape, but that a line has to be drawn absent of any scientific ways to be absolute. 60% 9f the population lives in jurisdictions where consent is either 16 or 17. Whoops comments were about date rape not being the same. That is in no way the same as the age of consent differences. No states view 14 as an age of consent .
