  1. I've seen a few pictures of SPJ rods recently that are acid wrapped with the second guide slightly offset in the opposite direction of the spiral (see pictures). Out of curiosity, what's the thought process/function behind this?
  2. Other than the obvious times when the current just won't allow for standard bucktail jigging, are there any other situations where you intentionally opt for a more traditional bait dragging fluke rig? Like a lot of people I've almost exclusively been bucktailing with gulp when fluking the past few years, but I'm starting to wonder if I should broaden my horizons at certain times.
  3. What is your pricing if I wanted ball heads painted and dressed as well?
  4. I'm putting together a lightweight 3/4 wt. setup for some brookie fishing in streams nearby, and I'm looking for some insight on cheap/moderately priced reels (~$150 budget) for the task. I don't need to go crazy, as it's not going to be a rod that gets used every day or used at all in the salt, but I'd like something that I can buy new and can get a spare spool for as well.
  5. Is it actually illegal to fish off the south jetty (physically on the rocks)? I feel like I have seen a lot of people over there that kayaked/paddled a surfboard/boated across.
  6. The email that I found was a .org. When I go to the site it redirects to a .gov, but other emails that are actually listed on that site end in "brookhaven.org," so I think it's a safe bet that that is the correct one.
  7. emorris@brookhaven.org Found with a google search, looks like there have been similar issues in the past.
  8. That bobcat is incredible!
  9. I've always felt the same way about Tsunami rods. They never seem to have enough beef in the spine.
  10. Spro makes some of the best bucktails out there.
  11. He seemed to have his confidence back today- not sure if anyone will catch Spieth though.
  12. Same here. Tog fishing seems to have so many of its own nuances that I have never quite nene able to figure out.
  13. I've heard that it is a serious mental investment, but it's on my short list to watch. I just wish movies weren't so gosh darn long these days.
  14. I'm not sure of too many uses for it in the surf, but it is one of the stronger knots out there and it won't weaken the main line. I've mostly seen it used in offshore scenarios for attaching leaders to the main line.
  15. I've had great experience with Andersen in the past, particularly with their customer service.
  16. He seems to have a new attitude this time around (compared to the last 4 years or so). If he can stay out of his own head I think he stands a chance.
  17. When you lose a fish on them is the clip physically bending/breaking?
  18. Would be such a shame if they closed... they may not have the best selection but they are always willing to answer any/all questions
  19. Never shad fished before, but I was hoping to go the first week of May- do the Shad typically stick around for some time?
  20. What could possibly go wrong with this marketing campaign???
  21. Krazy glue seems a bit excessive for the job... head to a craft store and ask someone there- they should have something more suited for the application
  22. That 36-40" slot is a step in the right direction
  23. I've had a few Fenwick UL rods over the years and they have all served me very well for this exact purpose... (*edited - please don't post links here, we don't allow it: http://www.stripersonline.com/a/guidelines-and-rules - TimS)
