  1. How's the weekend been for you guys? I was having some decent luck up until last week then it seemed like things started to fizzle out with all the northwest winds. Not sure if I should concentrate in the back of the harbors still or if I should start to move out to the sound points.
  2. Just took apart my reel to clean and regrease. What I found was that penns blue grease has turned black/grey. Is that normal? Last time I regreased it was back in September. Seems a little unusual for it to:confused: be that color after only a couple months.
  3. Thanks for breaking it down for me. As always great service and responsiveness.
  4. Is it possible to interchange the line roller and bearing? Also, can I interchange the bail wire from the fierce 5000 with the thicker bail wire of battle 5000? If so, can you list the parts necessary along with the part #. Looking to upgrade my fierce a little bit. The line roller on the fierce only comes with a bushing and it has locked up me. Thanks in advance!
  5. On Sunday night I was at a south shore beach. Mullet was definitely tight to the beach, water calm, practically no wind, full moon and clear skies. I managed to catch 2 stripers and lost two with the sp minnow. One of which was my first keeper of the year!(released to fight another day). Now that I'm reading this thread, a light bulb went off. Had my blue ss popper but didn't even think to throw it out there and now I'm seeing that those were pretty damn good conditions. Probably would have helped me to put some more fish on the beach. Still happy none the less and that's why I love stripers online. I always come across some helpful info. Tight lines!
  6. Thanks for the quick responses. I'm going to add some backing to the spool tomm. Just want to make sure I'm completely ready for the fall run. Tight lines
  7. I recently lost a lot of braid on my reel. The reel is a penn fierce 5000. I would say it's only about 3/4 full now. My question is...would this affect the casting distance?
  8. Thanks for the helpful tips everyone and thanks Tony as well, but I've figured out the problem. I tightened the reel handle way to much. Once I loosened it up a bit, the reel felt instantly smoother. Hope that helps somebody if they run into the same problem.
  9. You've been absolutely beasting those fluke! Nice job my man.
  10. Thanks for the advice, but I already tried that. Didn't see any improvement. Main gear, worm gear, crosswind block etc. all appeared to be okay. Sadly I have 2 fierce reels and they are a lot smoother then the spinfisher currently is. I was hoping that a penn rep would help me out this. I'd like to send it in under warranty.
