  1. Nail clippers. I get a season out of one.
  2. The plague in the Middle Ages lasted 5 to 20 years at a crack. We have shortages of all kinds of stuff. The shortages will last until this plague is over. Wear your masks, social distance and wash your hands. Raise your hand if you think that opening everything and going back to normal will work. Now slap yourself silly with the hand you raised.
  3. If you are talking about the metals I am thinking of they work well in the surf. Have caught lots of blues, and Spanish mackerel with them. They cast better than most other metals which is saying a lot. I’ve not found the 1 oz to be too heavy on Jersey beaches.
  4. I got Stormor neoprene socks to make my boots fit. What would you wash them with? Is Dawn dish soap ok to hand wash them with? Thanks for any response.sorry double post.
  5. Thanks all. I used a limitless Dawn dish soap. They came out well.
  6. Found old offset hooks. I believe inline circle hooks will be needed in the New Year for bait. I think these are 8/0 and maybe 10/0 and stainless, used years ago for chunking. Do they have a use or are they just taking up space.

  9. You have to look for yourself. Last week we had a huge amount of sandeels with fish chasing them. They were jumping by the thousands. The guy next to me was throwing Shad because of all the bunker. They were there right in front of him and he didn’t see they were sandeels. He caught some fish but my eight year old grandson caught more, he was throwing Sandeel imitations. Know your bait. Anchovies, Spearing, Sandeels, Bunker both peanuts and adult, Mullet there are others but this is a good start where I fish in Jersey. Know what they look like in hand and what the look like in the water. Now match them with the lures you use and your retrieve.
  10. I would check yard sales and flea markets for an old glass rod with wooden handle. They were two piece. I did that several years ago with an old Penn. It was great for clamming for Stripers.
  11. What size hook do you use for carp with corn, bookies?
  12. I’m an old man. If I wait for what I want to go on sale I may be too feeble to use it, or forget I want it for. I buy it when I need it.
  13. My last few pairs of waders have been Cabelas. I get 2-3 years and then they leak. Before that I had a pair of Snowbee waders I liked them but they don’t market them on the east coast. Early last winter I talked to a rep at one of the Jersey shows and he said they were marketing them in the US again. Covid shut everything down and I lost his card. Before that I had two pairs of Gralites that gave me good but sweaty wear. Before that I had two pair of Serbia waders. All of them eventually leaked. Sorry to ramble. Hope this helps.
  14. I have the 8+ footer also. Also the 10+ footer. The 10 is more rod than I need to fish sand beaches and I only use it occasionally with big jugs in heavy wind. The 8 is a good choice for light plugging my biggest on it is 26lb. I can reach out a bit farther with the 9+ and I reach for it most of the time for light plugs and metals. Throws AVAs well. I’m not sure about a website. I checked them out in a tackle shop.
  15. Tsunami Airwave Elite. Love the 9 footer. It is a bit longer. I fish it all day. I see lots of them on the beach.
  16. With experience you will learn to read the water in front of you. If you fish down a beach for half an hour. The same beach willl fish different on your way back. You will get to the point that you know where the fish should be. If you catch fish on the down current side of one bar look for them the same place on the next bar. On your picture be sure to cover the area where the waves crossing the bar drop into the slough. Also the area where the slough meets the beach. You can’t help but fish slough between and that is good because there could be fish resting, eating, or moving from place to place.
  17. I am guessing 7-8 power would be good. Too high power gets shakey. I have a 10-15 variable power that I never use. Guessing you will use them in a buggy. I padded the pocket in the door and use them often as my eyesight had deteriorated with age.
  18. I have 8‘+ and 9‘* Tsunami Air Wave Elites. Penn Conflict 4000 and Conflict II on them. They are great for the area I fish. Mid Jersey all sand beaches. Blues, Bass, and Flounder when we have them. Good luck!
  19. That is cold. Not to mention short sighted, selfish and ignorant.
  20. I caught one on a mullet rigged on a doodle bug several years ago. I was very surprised.
  21. Why haven’t Bluefish rebounded with the decline of Stripers? I’ve seen more whales feeding from the beach in the last few years than I ever remember. There should be more gamefish of some kind around because there is bait. I fish daily during the week and it’s been a slow fall.
  22. The only felt packs I know of are way thicker than I needed and not readily available. I went with readily available options. Thanks for the suggestion.
  23. I have always worn stout boots. I’m 73 and have worn Cabelas boots for atleast 15-20 years. They changed since I bought my last pair (2-3years) the body got tight while I lost 5 lbs, the worst part is that the feet are at least 1-2 sizes bigger. I tried the next size down in stout but the waders came up to my knees. What can I wear to take up at least 1- 1+1/2 sizes of slop when I walk. I walk a couple miles a day in waders. These new boots are great except for the boot size. I wear two socks on my right foot. Sorry if I bored you. Thanks if you’re still with me. What can I wear that will take up a full size on my right foot?
  24. Thanks to everyone who responded. Two Sox work. On my left foot I wear a light sock and a regular soccer sock. On the right I wear a soccer sock and a stormor neoprene sock. One size doesn’t fit all. SOL is a wealth of information.
  25. Did she mean “me” her or “me” you. I’d call her bluff.
