  1. I caught what I believe to be a Brown shark about 20 years ago. P45 under the light on chunk Mackeral, all I knew at the time. Thought it was a striper of a lifetime, but ended being what I believe was a brown. I don’t fish sharks but my estimate was 50 - 60 lbs.
  2. The pond (Easthead Res.) behind the ranger station in Myles Standish is a good spot grab some bass or catch a bunch of sunnies. Decent shore access. Grab a dozen shiners and some crawlers and he’ll be happy.
  3. Fishing a flatfish was a science in itself. I was taught using a sinking flyline trolling as slow as possible often just a stroke or two with the paddle then drift till almost motionless. When you had the action right the tip of the fly rod would wobble just right. Many large trout and salmon in years past. Mostly in Maine. My favorite color was the Coach Dog in the F5 size. Or the Rainbow trout in the F7. Many memories pulling those with my grandfather..
  4. Had the same situation, bag of ice cubes for 15 minutes. No issues
  5. Similar experience with a “chain”’repair shop. I have 2 GMC’s an Acadia and Terrain, 2016 and 2013 with similar mileage. Both vehicles have had similar symptoms at close to the same mileage. Recently I had a humming sound coming from the rear wheel of the Terrain. Bearings. Ok no problem. So at my recent oil change at this “chain” I was curious to what they would charge for both rear bearings. 4 hours of labor and $200 for each bearing. They were offering to do this job for just under $800. Crazy. They were out of their minds. Took me 1 hr. and 20 minutes (without a lift) total and was able to order them for $75 a piece. The message here is gain a little knowledge on the basic needs of your vehicles and you could save yourself a bundle of money.
  6. In looking at the stocking map, it shows Lake Rico in Taunton. Can anyone here confirm this? This is a warm water fishery, with no real deep water. Any thoughts?
  7. Another option I use for keeping critters away is to use foil pie plates tied to a post. Between the wind and flash it keeps most critters away. May drive your neighbors crazy with noise they make though.
  8. Excellent Thread. My biggest are: 3 @ 7 lbs. open water (S.E. Mass ponds) all on large Texas rigged worms. 1 @ 7 lbs 6 oz through the ice (SE Mass) - Countless between 6-7 lbs. 98% through the ice from 2 different ponds. (SE Mass)
  9. I have 2 4500 models and use them for plugging and jogging. They are about 4-5 years old and have served me very well. I have no problem jigging 4 oz. buck tails.
  10. Only fished the Andro closer to Gilead and Newry. Good populations of trout up that way. Where Wild River dumps into the Andro. is a very "fishy" area.. Check regs. lot of FFO in that area.. As far as Bass, Webb Lake is decent. More of a drive but top notch smallie fishing is Umbagog Lake. Large lake but loaded with smallies.
  11. There are a couple spots on Cliff pond that you can catch trout even this time of year!! On one shoreline you can hit 20-30 FOW!! I caught three nice rainbows last week middle of a 85 deg. day!
  12. Not local, but nice brookie from Northern NH two weekends ago!
  13. Trout were rising all over the place at Ashumet last Wednesday. Had a few followers so I know they were trout!
  14. I also have a pair of TFO 10'6" 2-8 oz. and agree 100 % with what was mentioned above!! I have had them 4 years now and started with the old style Emblem Pro, but switched quickly to Daiwa Saltists both 4500. I use 40 lb. braid and also have no trouble reaching breaking fish near the middle of the canal!
  15. 44" and fat, no idea how much she weighed!
  16. Try Wild River where it enters the Andro.. Great area to hook into a trout.. This is in Gilead.. Check regs. might by FFO..
  17. stripers B blues B (the few I caught were 30" or better) fluke D larry's B sally's D (couldn't find them deep) rainbows B browns F brookies C
  18. I have spent thousands of dollars on Daiwa Reels.. Mostly Team Daiwa freshwater reels.. (20-25) Will never by anything else.. Have tried other brands at the recommendation of others.. For my style of fishing Daiwas are perfect..And they stand behind their product.. They way I Jig has nothing to do with the reel I put all the work on the rod.. I have an older Emblem Pro..I dont recommend it, feels cheap, like at any moment it would blow apart..not solid like the saltists.. .. Just my opinion as asked..
  19. I have 2 TFO 10'6" MH geared w/ 4500 saltists.. Had them for two years and in my mind the best money will get you... I throw 4-5 oz. jigs and all types of plugs and pencils.. Never an issue or concern that they will blow apart...
