  1. Love to have a set of these. my curt receiver hitch is way to low on my 19 f150.
  2. Have a buddy that talked to a ranger on Ocracoke. He said they had a meeting and were not going to allow street legal utvs at this time. Hwy 12 would be fine but no beaches in the national seashore. He said a few had slipped thru and been issued permits and those would be refunded. I still don't see the logic in not allowing them. They do much less beach damage than any full size vehicle. yahoos in lifted jeeps with big tires which I've had for years are just as likely to drive in the dunes.
  3. Had a buddy talk to a park ranger on Ocracoke today. He says they had a meeting and no UTVs on the beaches whether street legal or not unless the federal guidelines are changed. Hwy 12 is fine it's state controlled. National seashore regulations still apply no atvs, utvs or motorcyles.
  4. This is on cape lookout. I'm going to sure try it on Ocracoke. I can be on the ferry from my house in less than 45 minutes.
  5. I'm street legal on my honda now. it was state inspected as a SUV. NC are registering them as a modified utility vehicle a new state designation. I see no reason I shouldn't be able to by my permit just like I have on every jeep and truck ive ever owned. they can police the sxs drivers just like yahoos in jeeps are ticketed for acting stupid. people have been using them for years on cape lookout and portsmouth island. me included.

  7. What's available out here commercially or used? I sold my wide one I previously on a F150 when started running my jeep because it blocked the lights. I want to go wider now . The jeep one is just too small.
  8. I fish by myself often or at least driving my own truck with everyone else driving theirs. noticed on the last trip i had 9 rods with me just in case. rod rack only holds 8 had to leave one in the truck. I need a bigger rack !!!
  9. sorry i missed your reply. yes it goes like hell. I save that for the trail though. 7 gallon tank gives me around 130 miles when doing trail rides.
  10. Ultimate beach jeep for me. 2005 wrangler LJ. sold it in a moment of weakness/poorness. Tried to by it back recently with no luck.
  11. Anybody running any wraps or vinyl decals similar to boat wraps. I'm looking ideas. I'm really wanting some kind of surf fishing theme or NC OBX theme on the side of my truck topper.
  12. Some are more difficult than others at least for me i'm 6.2 and 340lbs. I looked at several brands. The honda fit me better. Coming from atvs in the past these ride much better. very comforting riding on the beach really not worrying about getting stuck.
  13. In my 50+ years going to the beach I've seen just as many if not more jacked up trucks and suvs raising hell on the beach. Loud pipes, blaring stereos. Being a Jeep guy for years I'm sorry to say they are some of the worst offenders. Typical mentality my Jeep will go anywhere, I don't have to air down, how many people can I cram in here. It's a JEEP THING and I do understand!!! Years ago when hunting we got into 3 wheelers just because they would go down the farm paths without doing as much damage and they would float across the sand. I'm getting OLD!!!!
  14. in NC you can only drive on Cape lookout and Portsmouth Island without license and insurance such as atvs and utvs. that is unless you live in currituck county then you can drive on the northern beaches. The rest of the Outer Banks are only opened to licensed vehicles with a annual permit. I'm hoping and praying for the day the state will license UTVs for the street like many other states have. I'll be on the ferry to Ocracoke the first day.
  15. helped the low hitch height a little. went up in tire size. probably have to go up in lift too!!!
  16. Yeah I do seem to replace trucks every couple of years. That's the curse of selling them for a living I guess.
  17. got that now. still leaves your hitch pushing sand though.
  18. 2019. i had the same hitch on my 2012 and 2016. they didnt mount anywhere close to how low the 19 does.
  19. Any idea of a link to them. I can find all the hitches i want that mount under the bumper. I have one now a curt brand. I'm looking to go out the center of the bumper where the front plate would be. I know Ive seen one somewhere.
  20. Somebodies goggle foo is bound to be better than mine. I know I've seen a front receiver hitch that mounts out the center of the bumper not underneath on new model Ford F150s.
  21. Only Cape Lookout and Portsmouth Island or Carova if your a currituck county resident.
  22. just carried my new truck 2019 F150 6.5 bed down to the beach. First time I've had it out there with 20s. I used my deflaters I keep in the jeep. They apparently are set different for the 35s on my jeep lol. Never even thoght about that. They let my truck down to 12 lbs before i caught it. Went great on the beach though. next trip I stopped it at 18 lbs still went good. Not Jeep wrangler good but still good.
  23. My newest Buggy. A 2019 Honda Talon sxs. definitely have limited beaches I can use it on. It is great on our Core banks beaches down here in NC. Set it up with front and rear receiver hitches for my racks. Certainly goes anywhere I want with ease. Just don't get caught out in the weather. Makes a great combo with truck and camper. Allows you to keep the truck set up and follow the fish up and down the beach.
