  1. Max, if you need more pics let me know. The rod has some age on it, not bad, just some, I would call discoloring on the plastic. Photos of reel added, also. Thanks, Mike
  2. Hi Max, Sure. When I was photographing the reel, there is another small < 0.3" mark on the side opposite the handle.
  3. Hi, I know it has been a while, but if you haven't traded the reel would you sell it instead? Thanks, Mike
  4. Hi, I have a very good condition 488 and Garcia Conlin C 2553 9 1/2' Medium Fast action rod, 1 - 4 oz lures, 12 -30 lb line. The reel has the original manual, in very good condition and the reel is in very good shape, used maybe 8 times over 40 years. There is one drape on the rear of the body, the bail is strong, the anti reverse works fine. The rod has some rub marks, from various moves, the guides are in excellent shape. Asking $125 plus shipping to the continental uS only. Thanks, Mike
  5. Hi all, I have the following items I would like to sell. Penn Surfcaster. No. 150 reel. The bottom plate has 30-66 on it. The reel shows use, as far as I can tell works fine. I bought it and realize that I prefer my spinning tackle. Which is why I picked up a like new Mitchell 302. I am asking $40 or best offer plus shipping. Cabela's Salt Striker ISC 705-3 XHA, Cast 3 piece, 17 - 30 lb test line, 1 - 4 oz lure. I got this to use with the Penn reel, the reel does not fit and again I realize I prefer my spinning tackle. Asking $60 or best offer plus shipping. The rod has never been used, still has the plastic on the reel cork handle. I would consider a partial trade for an old, good condition Garcia spinning rod to go with the Mitchell 302 Saltwater reel. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Thanks, Mike
  6. Okay, I've read the rules, feel like I know what to do. My question is where do I put a rod and reel for sale? Not fly fishing, not plugs where? Thanks, Mike
  7. Hi, I ran across the link to these guides. Any thoughts on how they would be for surf casting? http://www.******************/microwave_guides.html Thanks, Mike

    Need pointers

You might try a charter, I know costly, or see if there is a group that fishes down there and see if you can hook up, no pun intended, with them. I am in the same boat here in NH, want to do it, but how to succeed/ Good luck, Mike
  9. I tried to find that on the Amazon site. Do you have to be an Amazon Prime member to do that? Thanks, Mike
  10. I like the idea for the "peaks" in the basket. The line holster still may be good for small water or in a kayak. Mike
  11. Nice review and look at the parts! This inspires me to look for one to go with a vintage rod. I have the little bro 740Z Ultra lite an it is smoothhhh. Mike
  12. No opinions out there!! Mike

    NH Striper flies

Thanks Stormy, I love the Garthside site and his flies. He left the building way too early. Mike
  14. Okay, I stopped by this antique shop on my way to pick up an old outboard, too long for here. They have 2 of the old blue Garcia Surf rods. They were the spinning rods, 7' I think, rated for 1/2 to 2 oz lures. 12 - 20 lb test line if I remember correctly. They are also on 30% reduction in June. Now, is this a rod that could take some casting, the guides and all were in good shape. Also, what would be appropriate reel for this? Thanks, Mike
