Thanks, and so far the BVK has been great!!!! The BVK 12 weight arrived yesterday, and the Mangrove 12 wt too. Can't weight to try these out I work in the television business, never had anything to do with the fishing industry besides buying too much stuff in my wife's opinion Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I even caught a nice one in January this year Make sure you do it, don't put if off, it is a physical endeavor, and at 51 now I feel it at the end of every day on the water chasing Poons.

(In God and Mama we trust!) These crazy doves just would not sit still so I could have spread salt on their tails. My solution was to use a whole bunch of salt and spread it on them when they were busy feeding, but even that approach caught me a dove. Since that time I´m a little sceptically about things people tell me :-( Like the store of Sam who cut of the hand of an Arab-Soldier to get a silver Medallion in the six days war. Asked by a friend why he did not cut his enemies head off, to get a golden Medallion he answered: "Well! he did not have one anymore" ;-) NIce Post It's not my fly, I just liked the looks of it I said to the boat in 15, maybe you need to read the thread more carefully or go back to putting salt on Doves tails

Herb I was very concerned about my rod tip, and my leader was so long I had it on the reel several times, AND.... Lost a big chunk of skin when the flyline / leader knot went through my fingers on a surge close to the boat. It was all worth it though as it was the catch of a lifetime! I am using the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust App, it has a fish calculator on it. The say it is more accurate than the old method of length x girth2 / 800. BTTbsays that the old method actually under calculated. JT Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Just to clarify, to the boat in 15 minutes, released in about 30, sorry for the confusion.

Did you motor up to it and gaff it??? Yes, I did use a trolling motor to get the fly line on the reel, and no I did not use a gaff. Released unharmed. Fighting fish is all about the rod angle and using the butt rather than the tip and mid-section of the rod. I often use a 9 weight on slick calm days, but was using the BVK 10 on a windy day as it was new and wanted to check it out. Of course I did not expect to hook into such a monster, but it was my lucky day. As a side note, the really big fish tend to not make long runs, and this one was so large it never entirely cleared the water on any of it's 3 or 4 jumps.
