  1. Thats pretty much because I'm not moving. My head a bit in the one video, but sometimes even that will spook them. The only place I have seen stripers static is the north east. You would come over a ledge, and they would be laying in a gutter, almost still.
  2. Doing some recon for the upcoming season on diving for stripers, shot some video yesterday of fish. two decent videos, given conditions, but you can see that diving for these fish is not exactly easy. If I was shooting yesterday, I woud have had 2 fish. Both those schools let me see them one time. This was shallow diving, but doing this at 30-50 ft in similar conditions is really different diving. Interacted with rod and reel, no one hating us, politeness reigned. DW http://youtu.be/vMVMn_xjjA0 100% http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJvQIwNPb68
  3. FWIW, I respect others who have set up on a a spot, wether its boat or bank fishermen. I am not going to drift into their gear, disrupt their fish, and take a chance of getting hooked.

I don;t pull the trigger on something unless I want to take it. RnR does not allow that does it? I can guarantee there are more than a few of you that have CnR 20-30 stripers over the course of the day. How many of those became crab food? When I choose to pull the trigger, I know exactly what I am taking. Does that give us the right to harvest some fish? Yep. I want to add, I can pretty much tell you the harvest for spear stripers will be no more than 30-40 fish a year. Theres just not that many guys who can do it, and the vast majority of divers don;t want to work that hard. If they can;t pull it off in the first couple of attempts, its over. Like I said before, once the trigger pulling starts, fish become really scarce. Thats when the guys who know what they are doing go to work.
  7. mark, I can guarantee you don';t dive like me. You may suck on a scuba tank, harvest a few abs, maybe shot a ling or two. But coming out of the bag with calling me a liar about the size is just crap. Ever been to 100ft on breathold? Ever hunted striper in water so dirty all you can see is the lines going by 4 inches in front of your face? Yeah. Anyway, treat people with a little more respect before you know they are not worthy of it, and you get more. But telling me your gonna put me to sleep sometime? How do you know who I am, or what I am about? You don;t. So ease up dude. FWIW, I recall the cheesedick comment. Hows that?

Let alone be able to call BS on someone whos doing something you have no concept of, nor have any idea what a fish looks like at 30ft in that kind of vis. How the F$&K do you know what fish look like underwater? Got a go pro you stick down on a pole to video them? I been doing this long enough my eye is pretty damn good at judging size, and weight. I tried to take this to PM, but was denied. Was the cheesedick comment out of line, probably, but I am tired of folks who have NO idea on what they are talking about, casting dispersions, allegations, and saying **** about spearos that is out of line with reality. I also do not take kindly to being called a liar. plain and simple. So, Moocks!! Mark,,,,, you'll know me when you see me on the river, and we can discuss any differences we may have at that point, and wether I need a nap or not.
  9. the biggest fish in that school we're 15 pounds or close to it.check with me mid summer and I'll have more video of probably bigger fish.question for you, what is Moocks and why are you such a cheese dick? mustbe the internet forum thing.

How about netters?? 2. who says shooting stripers with a speargun is easy? 3. you really think some cigarette smoking, beer drinking poacher is gonna lay out 500$ for gear, jump in the river, AND be successful taking ANY stripers? 4. You really think that the spearfisherman are going to wipe out the fishery? I am a spearfisher, have been for over 25 yrs, and have taken more species than I can count, in more countries than I can remember. I have hunted and taken stripers on the east coast, nebraska, arkansas, nevada, utah, arizona and seen them in new hogan, have video of that, and seen a couple in the surf on the CA coast. That said, anyone who thinks you just jump in the water, find the fish, and put a bullet in one is seriously confused. There is an art to getting the fish close enough to you to make a good shot, and until you learn it, and how it works on different waters, good luck. Thats not saying someone might not have one swim up to them and spear it, could and likely might happen. BUT, once you shoot, the rest are GONE!! Oh yeah,,, stripers in the rivers and lakes do not start until may 1st. Thats the season for freshwater spearing, valley district, which is what he hunt up here. You guys need to back off, get a grip, and realize WE are entitled to the exact same opportunities as YOU are. We pay our taxes, buy our licenses, and observe the rules JUST LIKE YOU! Sure, there maybe some guys who break the law, just as there are guys who break the law with rod and reel. If I catch them, or find out about them, you can bet I will deal with them, just like I would if it was rod and reel poacher. As for riverside striper vigilantes, well, I agree with spear chucker. Hopefully we won;t have any difficult run ins, with others, but not gonna let that scare me for sure. Lets all get along, and pay attention. Its everybodys fishery boys. Anyone wants to see the video of new hogan, you can get an idea on what its like to dive dirty water, you can see it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4JoMSS6ovY
