  1. Only if Y sleeps in a concrete bunker. His snore is like no other...
  2. Tog Flophouse. I've witnessed first hand some outlandish "Y"deas in the past, but this I have to admit is gold.
  3. Uh, hello. XY and XX...
  4. I know. Old post. An "American Shepherd" is a mini "Australian Shepherd". They just shrunk the size and gave it an appropriate name as regular "aussies" are an american breed. Same amount of intelligence, drive and energy, just a smaller package. They calm down to the speed of the Tasmanian devil on crack after about 4 years. They are phenomenal family dogs. BUT, they are shepherds. Bred to protect and herd. Socialization and training is critical. My aussholes... The red tri in the back, she's on the border of being a mini. 32lbs and 19" at the withers. The gorgeous rockstar of a red merle in front is 42lbs and 20". Both considered smalls. Both from working lines so they don't sport the floof you see in show lines.
  5. Gender should be removed altogether from a birth cert. It should be anatomical "Genitalia: TESTES OVARIES AMBIGUOUS" or the more intelligent chromosomal "XX or XY". I couldn't care less how adults identify themselves. If someone wants to identify as a bowling ball, more power to you. Doesn't affect my life. I just need to know how to address you politely because that's how my mother raised me. I'm happy to replace Mr. Smith, Ms./Mrs. Smith and Other Smith with Testes Smith, Ovaries Smith and Ambiguous Smith respectively. I'm gonna start using that today in fact.
  6. There's good stuff. My boys are a senior and junior respectively and I've been blessed that neither have had to set foot in a NJ public school, of which I live in a town with A+ rated schools. They are decent students and good athletes, certainly not the star athletes in the all-boys school in which they attend. But the comparative college process between my oldest in private school and his friends in public has been an eyeopener. My "mediocre" son, by public school grade and test score standards and zero chance of FAFSA money, had his pick of the 5 schools had applied to, made his decision and knew where he was going the first week of December and had 3/4th of it paid, guaranteed, with academic scholarships. One of his ps friends, with a full half point higher gpa and 120 point higher SAT score, Naviance had two of his schools as a "far reach", compared to my son as a "possible". The scatter-grams tell the tale year after year. These are A+/A rated, small liberal arts, D3 schools. But, no accolades, atta-boys, parades, safe-space celebrations. Really a throwback in time, working hard, intelligent, thoughtful decision making and giving back to the community is the expectation and acculturation where they go. Unfortunately, moving forward, they will most likely have to fear for their "white-maledness" in the new age of entitlement.
  7. Ocean City, NJ. Northstar. It was a hoot watching Dik look for crabs that were never delivered.
  8. No FAFSA. They didn't need to know what I could and could not afford. For all they could have thought was that I could afford to pay full price. But they didn't. The ED/EA advantage is that these schools can lock in their budgets and begin receiving tuition payments that much sooner. They can unlock GUARANTEED scholarship money sooner rather than waiting for some poor shlub to write a check from his 539. They can start that process on January 1 instead of waiting till March 1 for RD acceptance letters to go out. State schools don't give a **** either way because they get that money regardless.
  9. Just went through it with #1. All "A" rated, small, liberal arts, D3 colleges in the northeast. 5 applications , 3 EA and 2 RD, all in before 11/15. By Thanksgiving he had 4 acceptance letters with guaranteed academic scholarship money from 80-130k. He contacted the school that was #1 on his list which we had not yet heard from and informed them of his other offers. They offered to match the highest offer if my son agreed to switch his app to ED. A 5 1/2 hour ride to Canton, NY to be sure and it was decided. 1 down, 2 to go. Honestly, I don't understand how kids rack up crazy debt when there is SO much money out there for GREAT schools. There are scholarships out there for the taking. Not necessarily full rides, but plenty of free money. You just have to do your research.
  10. 1. Rocks. Lots of them. 2. Lobster rolls 3. LEAVING Rhode Island. Red faced drunken white dudes in pink shorts and Sperry's seems to be a thing there...
  11. Don't recall only that it was a best-of-three series. Old Guys took it in 3. First trip on the Searcher(Statue of Liberty play ) and the third on the Mary M. I was fishing with a severed thumb. To this day I don't think I've ever had such a deep cut that has healed as quickly after this trip. White crab viscera. It's better than neosporin.
  12. The food on that trip was spectacular as was the crab selection. That was the first of the best-of-three old-guy/new-guy trips from what I remember. Alberto was on it too...
  13. Was stealthy even. I think he did it as his first crab was in free fall. Didn't miss a beat. It was like his left side was sick and the right side was happily toggin. Masterful. Zen-like. I want to practice barf-toggin to be like him.
  14. The only common denominator for me is lack of sleep. Getting older seems to make it suck more often now too. Other than that there's no rhyme or reason to it. But once it get in my head, for me it's tough to shake. I've been toggin with Captain Chaos on the Stanley Rose in 5-7's with a 4 second period fishing from one knee and been fine. I've also gotten sick on the kayak 100yds from the beach in a light SE chop. I dunno. But I felt really good up in the bow for the first couple drops. But the lack of a bite got me thinking of other things...
  15. OB-CO Donuts is open. A distant second from Donuts Plus, but a fine donut nonetheless...
  16. Like this crew needs more carbs...
  17. Start at 0:45. He's saying "Hey, dummy. Why you not listen to Billybob? Two feet thataway please. ". He's up on his haunches and everything like he's talking up the line. This just proves everything we think they're thinking down there is accurate.
  18. One tried to lure my dog off my property 4 years ago. Now have a Barnett Ghost on the back deck. They're stuck before they even have a chance to twitch from hearing the click. I agree with Steinbeck.
  19. Closed for the winter.
  20. Don't sell yourself short. They ALL look hideous.
  21. When your only option of getting your penis touched by another female was a mile north on 30 at Bryn Mawr, I don't think Haverford guys gave a FF about the temp of the delivery method to dulling the pain and eventual tears of "HOW DID I GET HERE?!?! ". Those girls were animals...
  22. I twerk actually.
  23. Are we just talking administrative offices or the whole shebang? E.g. courthouse, police station, OoEM command center etc. Don't forget to add 3-5% for change orders. The answer of course is YES, $100mil is excessive for a town that size. As a comparison at 1/5th of the size, my snooty, mostly conservative and extremely well managed town recently completed their town hall project for a police cruiser under $6mil and it's spectacular. But I'm sure the Governor approves being that it's his hometown. If you look, you'll start to see some patterns...
  24. Don't get me wrong, my dogs are absolute balloon knots. But they are extremely well trained balloon knots.
  25. Simple fix. Works for any stupid behavior. Furniture eating, counter surfing, keeping them off furniture, jumping up on people. Timing needs to be impeccable however. - Station yourself at the scene of the repeated crime and wait for the dog to make the move. - As soon as it puts its mouth on the wall, puts his nose up on the counter, etc. blast the Pet Corrector. - Try not to laugh because its hilarious to to see your dogs expression of "holy Jesus in heaven I'm never doing that again..." You probably won't have to do it a second time. You've associated the act with the unpleasant sound of the Pet Corrector. Oh and make the time to train your dogs properly before **** becomes a problem. I'll be working with @TimS and building this into SOL as an admin plugin so he can blast 7#'s BEFORE he hits "Submit Reply".
