I called to G-Loomis and tell exactly what happened and they propose me two option: #1. fill the warranty form and send rod and they will evaluate and if the rod fail because of the "normal wear and tear" and not because of the material defect, it will not be covered by warranty, but they will offer me to replace rod with similar rod for $120.00 + tax. #2. I will pay $100 + tax and they will send me similar rod, and I have to send back to them my broken rod in the same case a new rod will arrive. They need to receive my rod no later then 30 days or they will charge me full price of the rod. Loomis don't have 2 piece rod and they will send me NRX 9' 9wt 4 piece rod. I choose option #2 and new rod arrived 4 days later. Only one thing was bothered me: I have to break my rod in pieces so it will fit in the short protective case for shipment. RJ, thank you so much for your advise, I have a new rod for $100, in compering with Orvis - they charge $60 to repair your rod under warranty.

    Thank you guys for reply!
  4. Thank you very much for yours replies. I honestly did not expect so much information and so .., such a discussion. Thank you all. I do have a several 7and 8 wt rods, 10' and 11', that I and my son and daughter using for Salmon and Steelhead fishing. I bought that rod, thinking to try surf fishing that I know nothing about. And yes I'm not a big guy and unfortunately not as young as want to be, and had a rotator cuff surgery several years ago. I spoke with a guy I met on the shore and he used a 10wt. rod. I remember how very well and effortlessly he was casting,.. So, I guess salt water fishing need more casting practice for me and probably 10wt will be used in the future. Thank you all again.
  5. Thank you very much for info, the rod I bought is T3, 2 pcs, 9' 10wt.
  6. Thanks for reply, I just look at the rod - I make a mistake, it is 9' 10wt rod, sorry for misleading information. I will edit my post to correct my mistake.

Last week I fished with my daughter on Salmon River, she used G-Loomis GLX 9' 9wt 2 pcs FR 1089 rod. Usually if rod breaks it is a tip section, but in her case the rod broke 1 feet below ferrule, while she was fighting with a King. If any one has or know any one who has or any place where I can find to buy the but section, please let me know. I planning to use that rod as a back up. Thanks Oleg
  8. Just bought Orvis 9' 10wt rod. I'd like to try it from the rocks or the beach, what is the best set up: line type and weight? Any advise? Does any one use such a rod? Thanks Oleg
  9. Hi, every body! I'm looking for fly rod Penn Gold Medal IMS 6129 FG - it is 9 ft 12 wt double handle. I've fished with that rod long time ago on Salmon river and than my son used it until he accidentally broke rod in half. That rod has some sentimental value to me and I would like to ask you guys if any one know where can I get one if it still possible, because as I know Penn stop making them several years ago. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  10. I'm a new to salt water fly fishing - tried it once on Bass rive rat Cape Cod. I never heard of that fly - where can I buy it to take a closer look and try it? Thanks

I don't think so!!! And I'm totally agree with Agsurfr - ecological system is quite complicated and we all are part of that system.
