  1. If I had a south west all year long.... I would have fish at Nauset for Christmas! Every spot has a wind that works best.... YOU have to figure out what is what and what is where! It really isn't hard.... just takes a life time! and.. EVEN THEN YOU STILL HAVE NO IDEA! If your good you can think you do! No what's fun ..???... when the wind.. weather does a 180* change... sit tight ... and you will have an unreal BITE!!!
  2. The guy that works for Noones is John.. good guy! He also has a shop in Eastham...he does his own work at!
  3. Beth says hey... your sister is here I'm going to catch her a Bass.. it is 9pm... at 10:15 she is waking me up (fell asleep putting mini me to sleep) help me get this hook outa a Bass... go out to her buggy there is a nice fish with the dropper really thru the musssseellll... you caught it.. get it out.. just a matter of the angle of then dangle... comes out... next night I'm all over it... first cast had a bad knot in the braid (thanks to my little guy) line snaps... after 1/2 hour no hits... go stealth.. to a secret local... first 4 cast have action... sliding a nice fish on the beach and my rod snaps... get the fish and walk (very stealth, camo needed) to the buggy... go to re-rig and drop my glasses and smash them.... takes me 45 min. to re-do every thing on a new rod... get back out and 4 more fish.. it's like 1:30am... my friend tells me.... take him home and get ready to leave this Hellish night and can't find the fish... left it back at ground zero... another stealth venture and it took some time to locate subject.... Guess you had to be there to understand how insane all this was! Also sucks cancelling a charter tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O... the life of STRIPERMAN! haha
  4. I will never forget the school that came into Nauset inlet back many moons... a wave came up and in it were these beautiful giant weakies... some approaching 20#s.... we took some good ones but on the Eastham side a guy really had a ball..... every year there are some taken around HarwichPort... this year being Banner.... I moved to the Cape in 74 and the year before back in NJ was the first year they came back heavy.... fished them from Great By to Shrewsbury River.. had a photo I carried in my wallet of a nice bunch I caught in the river... showed them to guys up here and said they were huge Browns I caught in Cliff Pond..... funny at the time!
  5. Danya is the MAN... don't do this unless YOU KNOW whats up.... Night time...daytime out there when you think you are OK... Sometimes You will have a long swim!!!! no s---IT ... BE CAREFUL dUDE.... Just heading out right now.. love it when the rain starts to pour.... lol... BASS DON'T CARE!!!! Great advice you guys!
  6. Something about catching BASS from the SURF that is just AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Getting my work suite on right now.... rain...wind... BAss... GOTTA LOVE IT! HOPE ALL MY FRIENDS ARE catching those striped wonders! What a weird spring.... awesome when they come down the white water! pictures to follow in December!
  7. Roy... you couldn't have done anymore then that! Next year I will get a lot more locals out this way to show up!!! I'll start today!!!!
  8. Roy if you decide to have it again at the canal... I will get the word out to a ton of people that would love to see this stuff.... No one actually knew any thing about it... that's the people i have talked to since the show... This show is the only show that I know of that represents a visual history of the Striped Bass and creations made from even the 1800's...and the knowledge of the people behind the tables is unreal!!!... .... As I type this i wish it was still going on... once one gets home and starts to think about what was there... O"MY... just didn't have the time to talk with everyone I wanted to! And for anyone looking for collectables you could never find so many plugs, lures, art and everything a Bass fishing nut could ever want under one roof.... The location alone for people that would come from off Cape couldn't have a nicer place... you could get a room right there... and the fish are right in front of you!!! and they were!!! THANK YOU for the excellent show and next year get ready for a line outside the door!!! PS... don't think you have to have a ton of money to start a great collection ... there were beautiful plugs for as little as $5.... I will post some photos soon as I get a day off!... and some sleep.... tonight high water 11pm.... can't wait.... Cape Cod is now the world of the STRIPED ONE!!!
  9. I was at the Antique STRIPER Plug show Roy C's... club put on this past Saturday... for all of you that love Striped Bass don't miss it if it comes again next year! You would NOT believe the assortment of Plugs and different antique Bass related items that were on display.... some of the ancient plugs were outstanding!!!! and the contemporary work would Blow You away! Got to see some old friends and met many new ones... REMEMBER... Don't miss this next year! Thanks Roy for a GREAT SHOW!!!!
  10. Any time bob... fly rod... no problem... with the fly rod... I have a couple leaders from an sol guy from england set up how they fish the lakes there... deadly... mostly midges, but where i fish a size 10 will do... no 18's... My hyper style works good with streamers... I would rather catch Trout and salmon till the bigger fish bite! See HFG knew that was blonde !!!! Time to light the smoker Blondie Out!
  11. Gray Mustache !!! That's blond ??? must be the resolution! Repeat of the same weather that made the fish eat last night into today!??? But instead of TROUT... I went for White Perch.... No Bite today... but at dusk they will fill their bellies and become almost Striped Bass size! Only got a couple ... nice size but when one fishes WP... it is an every cast event! When they aren't on time seems to go O so slow... fished a spot for what seemed like 2 hours... when i saw the clock in the Jeep I was only fishing for 20 minuets. I need a fast pace ... spoiled I guess. As for brookies, we have some huge out here, years back the state put in the Labrador strain ... and they have some nice smelt in some locations to make them happy campers! I will never forget going with a couple good friends from the fishery to check a pond... water clarity ... fish, etc... I just came back from a trip to Pierce pond in Maine.... saw some huge Brookies on the wall at COBBs Camp but only caught fish up mto 1 1/2-2#s... would love to do that trip again with the knowledge I have now. Well back to the story.... that morning on cape Cod, i saw three Brookies over 5 pounds.... and at least 10 over 2 1/2 to 3 1/2#s... The largest I caught out here weighed 6#s... just a huge fish, when I saw her as she came close to shore my heart went into about a thousand beats a min... I actually thought the fish was going to explode, it was the fatttessttt Trout I ever saw.... that was until I slide her ashore... I actually moved back because I really thought she was going to explode... then SHE did... eggs started to pour out of her... I had a 5 gallon bucket in the buggy and ended up with over an inch and a 1/2 of eggs that filled the bottom of the bucket.... the fish was 24 inches and looked like the girth was the same... one beautiful trout.. after the eggs dropped she became a strange looking fish... I have a picture some where Hope I can find it .... The next day I caught the Male.... 4 1/2#s... .... with a huge jaw!.. Something about big trout.... I love them!
  12. First time for trout in a few years... had a charter and had a ball... everyone caught many many beautiful fish and a couple salmon... I think being a freshwater guide is now something I'm going to do! forgot how much i loved catching large trout!
  13. When fishing an eel I like to have one that is balanced to the rod... I'm using a 9 foot rod and want the eel to cast well... one to heavy and one to light just won't work.... If I buy my eels I always hand pick them... you just know when you pick the right one... you don't want to be out on the beach with a bucket full of eels that you have to pick thru to fine the ONE... they all should be perfect.. especially when your paying 1.50 to 2 bucks an eel! And don't forget to have some stored in a white bucket for those bright moon nights!!! Fishing an eel is an art and one could write a novel about eel fishing! There are many tricks that will catch you fish when others can NOT get a hit! Some nights you can't do anything wrong... that's when the fish are there and very aggressive! Some nights they are not so easy... one night you may catch many fish on the same eel... next night they want a fresher eel that still has it's slime in tack... If was was to fish one during the day I would use fluro leader at night I don't think it matters.... daytime lively... night time I wack my eel (that sounds weird) really... stun it .. the surf gives it all the action needed... see here I go...(babbbling away)... better stop now ...EEL Book coming out soon! haha PS don't wack them on your buggy hood... the slime will not come off!
